Re: rear suspention question
So.... The saga continues. I put new tires on the car again, head a 4 wheel alignment and the tech said that the level ride system in the rear end i is not working. Although it does it's 2 second power up when the car is started, and the manual switch in the trunk works and raises the car. What ...

rear suspention question
Ok, so I have an 05 Bonneville GXP, and I was doing an oil change last night, and when I had the car up on the lift I noticed that BOTH rear tires are totally worn out on the inside of the tire only. The tires are about two years old and were put on by me, and have not been rotated from the front at ...

So on my 05 GXP the radio display was very dark but could still see some of it to tell what stations were on it. So this Tuesday when it was -2 outside, the display went out completely. What is the fix for this?? Or is it time for a new radio?

Re: 2004 GXP Headgasket Job
It's well over the 37 ft lbs and 120 deg now... Lol I do know I set it to your speck the second time after I replaced the oil pump, that's when I set it to 60. And I agree, I would not have throw the engine away for a replacement. It's a great running motor and worked as it should. The studs are the ...

Re: 2004 GXP Headgasket Job
After all that's said and done with this motor and this car, Its came down to going with my gut and tightening the balancer more then the 27ft lbs and 120 deg. I now have amazing oil pressure and no over heating problems. The motor and the car runs great and preforms awesome.
So I would say I ...

Re: 2004 GXP Headgasket Job
So...... After putting this piece of crap motor back together again.... With a new oil pump ($165.00) and a new head gasket ( $35.00) and all the time and energy, it runs. But NO oil again. I had pressure and oil to the top of the motor for a little bit at first start up and running. But now nothing ...

Re: 2004 GXP Headgasket Job
I agree, That's what makes me think its the pump. I know I had the balancer a smidge deep, and over tight.

Re: 2004 GXP Headgasket Job
Yep changed the oil and filter before start up after doing the head stud and gasket rebuild. Only thing I can think is the oil pump much have gotten damaged when I head the balancer installed to deep, but I think it was only to deep by an 1/8 or so at the most. That's my only thoughts on why. I did ...

Re: 2004 GXP Headgasket Job
I seen something about that also a few weeks ago, I tried that as a last ditch effort before I pulled it out again. And it didn't work.

Re: 2004 GXP Headgasket Job
The oil gallery isn't exposed for something to fall into. I'm thinking it's the oil pump, it almost has to be. That's the next party I'm gonna throw at it and hope it fixed the problem. Along with another head gasket.

Re: 2004 GXP Headgasket Job
Ok, so after putting it off for a while to try to regroup my thoughts and what I've done. I finally got the motor back out and Just Now pulled the back head off again. And the gasket IS correct. So why don't I have oil to the top of the motor?? Checked the oil pump and it looks fine.

Re: 2004 GXP Headgasket Job
I'm 99.9% sure I put the head gaskets on correctly. I notice there is a small notch out of the bottom on the timing chain area that if I had them switched side to side would have caused issues when I installed the heads. I just did a google search about (Priming the oil pump). Anyone else had this ...

Re: 2004 GXP Headgasket Job
Well now you have me questions myself, I pretty certain I put them on the correct way. But it sounds like I will be pulling the entire thing out and back apart to double check. Unless someone else wants to buy it. $2000.00

Re: 2004 GXP Headgasket Job
Don't think that's the problem, I've got the balancer out far enough that it's very visible to the eye that it's out of line and the belt squeals like crazy. And still no oil to the top of the motor. Can someone please start their car, and pull the oil fill cap and tell me if they see oil being ...
