Re: Rattle me this, Batman......
I meant put on the SC belt by itself, then the other by itself to see if it isolated the noise to one set of pullies. If it's present with both, you'd probably narrow it down to the harmonic balancer. The rubber in them can crack over time and it'll rattle like sunovagun, and be difficult to tell ...

Re: Rattle me this, Batman......
Replaced tensioner, noise still is there. Fluid on s/c is up to the threads, although it is dark. The s/c pulley feels smooth and I can hear the air moving when I spin the pulley.

Re: Rattle me this, Batman......
The noise is only made when both belts are on. If I remove the belt that runs the s/c it goes away.
When I put the screwdriver to it I can't tell if the sound is coming from the s/c or the tensioner.
I am leaning torward the tensioner because it shakes more than the s/c pulley, but then again, it's ...

Re: Rattle me this, Batman......
The s/c has new bearings and a rebuild about 8K ago, with no slop that I can notice. I can't really remove the belt from one or the other as it's too long to do that. I may take my drill and a lawn mower belt and spin them one at a time to see if either makes the noise.

Rattle me this, Batman......
We have a 93 Park Avenue Ultra with a rattle that seems to be coming from the s/c pulley or the tensioner next to it.
I removed the belt from both and the noise disappeared. The s/c pulley seems to turn easily enough by hand.
The rattle goes away at 1000 RPM. How can I determine what is causing the ...

At least he was distracted by a girl IN the car, and not on the sidewalk.

Re: DexCool Settlement
I had to actually file for the settlement, I got two checks for $100 each. One car had a $100 deductable on the work, and the other hadn't had the work done on it (yet).
This was for the Chevy Venture van as we had two of them at the time.

heater blows warm air on one side of car
My '93 Park Avenue Ultra has an issue with where the heat goes, the drivers side gets the heat as does the back seat, but for the most part the passenger side gets cold air. Same with the defroster. So the heater core works, but where the heat goes does not. We removed the glovebox and I can ...

Re: bucking Buick
Why not? The factory spent .01 on it so it must have some reason to be there. GM spends as little as possible to built these cars each and every day. GM doesn't go throwing foam parts around willy nilly.

What goes on the end of this empty hose? It appears a cone shaped piece of foam, but I am not sure. Found it while swapping out plugs & wires.

With all new plugs & O2 sensor, it now runs like a 3800 s/c should. Smoothly and with no hesitation under acceleration.

Re: bucking Buick
Waiting on plug wires & O2 sensor that should be arriving soon, changed all the plugs and now you can floor the gas pedal without the car bucking, but now if you floor the gas pedal, when you take your foot off the gas it stalls completely.

Re: bucking Buick
Disconnected, removed from the car, and used computer parts cleaner and then a very light shot of air to blow off residue. Replaced 4 sparkplugs as the that's all the TR55s they had in stock.

Re: bucking Buick
O2 sensor is gold-ish, and looks to be original. Cleaned the IAT, and the same problem occured. The plug wires say "Packard" on them, does that mean they are original wires or aftermarket?

Re: bucking Buick
Is the Delphi o2 sensor the same as AC Delco? Locally they sell the Delphi sensor, but only the AC Delco connector wire. AC used to be under the Delphi umbrella but don't know anymore.
