Re: air filter
I will check the brand tomorrow. Is there any air duct I can buy with a molded slot for it? Or another type w same connecter? hi, have a 97,and I'm also going with a cone filter and have been pondering the same question about the sensor that you have I posted below that I've been told to zip tie,or ...

Re: air filter
A cpl members on here said the sensor can be zip ties,or taped to an area close to the cone to get the air temp reading picked up as long as the sensor wasn't touching anything,I'm going with a cone on the tb and am aware ill gain nothing in performance, but I will get the look and sound I'm looking ...

There is also a gain in throttle response, power, mpg, and the sound your looking for.

Re: Intake...just a cone on tb?
HD stands for Home Depot. I can get you a pic if you want. It's simple and effective. I think it looks cool with a massive 9" filter in the engine bay too.
I actually kinda dig the cold start up gravely pcv sound.
Pics would be awesome.I have a ten inch cone to put on the tb till I can build a ...

Re: Cone filter
Right now i have the stock air box but it is gutted. I was thinking about getting a cone air filter and mounting it in the engine bay. I am not sure if this would do any good because it could pull in hot air from the engine bay. Not sure if i want to spend the money on a fwi. hey,I was just saying ...

Re: Intake...just a cone on tb?
If you're just interested in the sound then I would just throw a cone on the throttle body. It's very unlikely that you'll notice any difference in performance.
It'll sound good under load, but be ready for the sound it makes under a cold start!

Re: Intake...just a cone on tb?
The sound on cold start up to me makes intakes borderline not worth it. Unless you drive everywhere with the hammer down, but even then... yeah,I do know what your talking about,I've watched some youtube videos, and it sounds like a vacuum cleaner on start up lol and I'm just a sucker for the wot ...

Re: Intake...just a cone on tb?
Ive had both fender well and the Home Depot cai on my L67 cars. Both give the same gains. I have a HD cai like you want to build if that helps. The fender will draw in denser air, however once the car is moving the difference becomes negligible performance wise.
Why did I switch back to a HD cai ...

Re: Intake...just a cone on tb?
It's been done, Booze did it for a while when it was supposed to flood in his area. The reality is, you're better off with the stock airbox than just a cone on the TB. The stock airbox pulls cold air in from behind the headlight. A cone on the TB just sucks hot engine bay air in. Not that it really ...

Intake...just a cone on tb?
I've been wanting to put a cai in my 97 Bonneville and have seen suggestions on here where people say to just put a cone filter directly to the tb.is there a sensor on the factory ai?if so,what do I do with this sensor if I just put a cone on it?I know it's not nearly as effective as putting on ...

Re: 1979 350 V8
So, my car is has an R code which apparently means it's an Oldsmobile 4-bbl engine, which I believe means it's one of the rocket engines.
If this is true the the pre '77 engines had better flowing heads, I believe 9:1 compression as opposed to 8.4:1.
Would it be possible to fit the heads from an ...

Benefits of using higher octane?
So,as I'm reading the original owners manual on my 97 Bonneville se,I came across the recommended octane gas to use with the minimum octane rating of 87 is to be used or you can get knocking and pinging. My question is,are there any real benefit to using a higher octane such as 89,or 91 rating?I know ...

Well, eventually after I get a few other things done to my se,I'm going to do some exhaust work,,I've been doing my research and ha e found a col combinations that to me sound pretty good.I'm not going to continue to argue,it's pointless,I'm actually getting some great ideas from the forum and not ...
