Transmission

Well, the trans on my 01 SLE is on its way out. I dumped a bottle of Lucas tranny magic in and it drives but its last legs are wobbly after 202,000 original miles. Just looking for some input on options, although this might be the end of the ride and possibly my last Bonneville. I have owned 10 of ...

High Mileage ? and note on '02 SE.

First, a note re: todays install of coolant elbows. I wanted to clean out the ports they flush into, but didnt have a tool readily available. What i made used an old piece of drill rod, along with a 1.5" ish wide x 8" long piece of sand paper or emery cloth. Run 3-4" of the tape along the non ...

Re: Misfire, code 0303, plugs wires changed. Injector?

I'm a little hesitant to try my go to fuel cleaner (Seafoam, marine use primarily) because i have put in excess of 400,000 miles on numerous Bonnevilles. These miles include some cars that were approaching 250k on the odometer, and this is the first Injector issue. The screwdriver technique is the ...

Misfire, code 0303, plugs wires changed. Injector?

Got a code for a misfire (0303), and after installing Belden wires and NGK Copper plugs (original at 150k), still have it. Car does have a pretty good miss when running. I put a 194 bulb in the injector harness for #3 cyl and its firing, but the telltale "tap" from this injector is very faint, of at ...

Re: 2001 Bonneville Engine Codes

It is slow on warm up and I am planning on changing the t-stat. Long story but could not get one when finishing up on the intake work. Does get to 195 ish when operating at our recent morn/eve temps of 30 degrees or so. I was very careful around the EGR piping when wrenching and just checked and it ...

Re: Damaged 2001, Technical Drivetrain Question

Good responses Guys, thanks so far. Here is a pic. While I believe the axle shaft did take a hit, i think what cracked the RHS cover was the force that broke the LHS motor mount and motor mount casting. Couple of pics here.

Re: Damaged 2001, Technical Drivetrain Question

25-30 MPH hit. I think it was an Aztec that hit it, of all vehicles. most of the energy was absorbed by the door/hinge area, but yes it was a decent enough hit. I agree on the unseen damage, but i am going to keep the car for personal use so i dont mind taking a chance on the tranny unless someone ...

Damaged 2001, Technical Drivetrain Question

Bought a damaged SLE hit near the left front wheel. Bonneville was pulling out from parallel parking spot and hit just as it left the curb, hit between the door/fender area at appx 45 degree angle. Body damage limited to door/fender. Everything else is undamaged.

Left side aluminum motor mount ...
