Re: Door switch or what else?
Thanks for the info. I had no idea that the lock actuator also controlled the door ajar condition. In the old days, there was just a switch in the door jam that controlled the dome lights, etc when the door was opened or closed. Do you have the part number and are they still available?

Re: Door switch or what else?
Thanks for your responses. The lock actuators seem to be working fine. They lock and unlock without any issues, even when shifting from/into park. When I get a chance, I'll try to check the wiring harness running to the door to see if there are any issues. Does anyone know what the radio (or BCM ...

Re: Door switch or what else?
I'm having the same issue on my '05 GXP. However, if I open the passenger door, the radio will turn off. So it must be something in the driver's door. Anyone have any suggestions on what might be the cause of this?

Re: Bonneville GXP's in 2017
I bought my '05 GXP long distance from St. Louis 2 years ago with 32K miles. It was immaculate and well taken care of. I immediately changed all the fluids once I got it home. The only issue I'm having now is the valve (cam cover?) leakage, even after I torqued and lock tited all the fasteners. It's ...

Re: Your thoughts on tires for '04 GXP
I installed Goodyear Eagle F1 (all seasons) on my '05 GXP. I like the grip, low noise and ride quality of these tires. However, I can't keep these tires in balance! I had the right rear tire replaced twice and it still won't balance even with road force balancing. I'm so frustrated that I will never ...

Re: Fog Lights?
Since I started using my new fog lights, I've noticed some different behavior concerning the auto head lights. This morning on the way to work, it was a little foggy, so I turned on the fog lights and of course the headlights were on. However, if I turned the fog lights off then the auto headlights ...

Re: Fog Lights?
I finally installed my HID fog lights today. Installation was straight forward after I figured out that I had to use the old fog light caps as an "adapter" between the wiring harness and the new ballast. My thanks again to everyone who contributed to this thread.

Re: Fog Lights?
Thanks again, you are the best! I did purchase the special relay for the 55w system and will install it as well. I know there has been some discussions about 55w being too hot for the OEM fog light housings. I'll try to drill some holes into the caps for ventilation. BTW, do the tubes covering the ...

Re: Fog Lights?
O.K. Please excuse my ignorance, so the bulbs will plug in place of the current H3 fog light bulbs. Do I hook the ballasts between the bulb connectors and the lead-in wires? Or do the lead-in wires plug directly into the ballasts and the wires coming from the ballasts connect directly to the bulbs ...

Re: Fog Lights?
I just bought a DDM HID Kit, 55W, H3, 6000K with dual harness. Does anyone have any instructions or advice on how to install this kit? It didn't come with instructions. Thanks!

Re: Working on my LD8...
You guys must be superhuman or have special tools to work on the back cylinder bank cam cover bolts. I was able to locktite all of the bolts on the front bank, but the rear bank next to the firewall seem impossible to access. I removed the strut tower brace, but still couldn't get a socket onto any ...

Re: Is there an additional ignition lockout?
Thanks again for your replies. This evening when I left work, the car started fine and then restarted fine at the store. Hopefully it is a one-time hiccup as you've said. I do appreciate the input and experience that are on this forum!

Re: Is there an additional ignition lockout?
Thanks for your response ddalder. My car has only 41K miles but still has the original plugs. Not sure if replacing them would help this situation if it was some sort of warm start/flood situation. I did floor the accelerator on the last no-start crank to see if that would clear possible flooding ...

Is there an additional ignition lockout?
I just had something strange happen with my Bonneville this morning. I pulled into the parking garage at work and shut off the car. I opened the door and noticed that I wasn't pulled into the parking spot evenly. So, with the door ajar and my foot on the brake, I tried to start the car. The engine ...

Re: Why Does The Press Hate on GM?
Since the year 2000, I have only owned American cars. My '04 Dodge Dakota has 122K miles and is the best vehicle I've ever owned. Only issue I had under warranty was the driver side seat track. I've generally had good luck with GM cars, and currently have an '05 Bonneville GXP. Other than the ...

Re: What to expect from a GXP vs an SE
Those 3800 V6's do get good mileage. I rented a Buick LeSabre back in '08 and drove about 350 miles on the interstate. I averaged just about 30 mpg, which amazed me at the time for such a large car. I think the 3800 was an under rated engine for how it performed with power, mpg and over all ...

Re: What to expect from a GXP vs an SE
I'm averaging 21 mpg on my '05 GXP during my 27 mile commute to work, which is about 80% interstate driving. My '11 Challenger V6 gets 22 mpg under the same conditions. What are the N/A V6 Bonneville's getting in similar driving?

Re: Trying to reach MadTuner...
Thanks for your replies. I have tried the email route (using the address on their web site), and haven't received a response in two weeks. I could fax but thought it was unnecessary due to the email address listing, and I don't have a fax readily available. Also, like CMNTMXR57, I am reluctant to do ...
