Re: How to Mod a 3800 series 2 N/A?

As for an L36, I was running 14.7's with a GT1 cam, 105 springs, PLOG, GMPP exhaust (magnaflow), catless DP, and HV3 insert. Didn't even have a ported LIM. On a warmer day it would run 14.9's. This was all with a ZZP tune. It probably could have improved a little from a custom tune.

Re: Project Cam: Lets make a buying list

That's not what I meant.
The "install height" really means how much the spring is compressed when installed.
The retainers will change the seat pressure. for Comp 105's it adds 23 pounds at the valve seat but the spring rate is the same.
Nobody is going to die if you use the stock retainers.
Don't ...

Re: stuck harmonic balancer bolt

You guys must have all gotten the short end of the stick. When I took mine off the motor was out and on an engine stand. All I did was had a guy stand on the other side of the motor with a flex plate wrench holding the flex plate while I took an 18" breaker bar wrenched it right out. Not difficult ...

I'm planning on leaving that center divider in there, I'm just going to polish all the surfaces on the inside.

Re: Engine cuts out.

Sounds like what's happening intermittently with my car. It didn't throw a code for the longest time but it finally did and it turned out to be the MAF sensor.

Re: Carwash tried to kill my car today!

Only reason I would go through a carwash would be on a day like today where the car is filthy, but the weather outside is way too cold to warrant washing it myself.

Re: Four Codes, One suspect: Crank Position Sensor?

I would try the crank sensor first and clear the codes. However, you may not need a new one. I've heard of a lot of gunk getting in there and messing with the sensor's readings. Get some brake cleaner and shoot some of that in there by the sensor and have someone clear the codes and see what happens.

Lots of people do that to make the engine bay look cleaner. I think I'm going to move mine back to the front when I top swap.

Re: LIM polishing

Yup, that's what I was thinking about doin. I may not get the top swap on the car this year. I want to take my time with all the items and make sure everything is ported the way I want it and ready to go. Maybe I'll make a debut at BSB/WCBF 09

mmmmmm, 100+ degree washer fluid hitting an ice cold windshield. Hopefully you don't have any rock chips cuz they will swiftly turn into cracks.

LIM polishing

I'm going to have some quality time with my parts before I top swap so I'm wondering if anyone has ever polished all the rough casting surfaces inside of the supercharged LIM including the base and the center divider. This will be already machined for an intercooler so I have plenty of room to work ...

The 105 springs are the same dimensions as the stockers.

Umm, no.....
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3024/3102202150_9d01b5474e.jpg?v=0

The install height of the stock spring is 1.72", and it is 1.8" for the comp springs due to them being an LS1 spring. You need the new modified retainers ...

Re: Time for a tune

FWIW, the PCM shift points are gauged to shift at a particular MPH, not RPM. So if conditions vary slightly you will see it shifting at slightly different RPMs. Right now mine shifts in the vicinity of 6300-6400 rpm. I have Comp 105 springs and a GT1 cam though. I could probably go a bit higher with ...

Easy swap, but be prepared to smell the worst stuff you've ever smelled when you replace the s/c oil.
