Ok Haro was right as usual. The weight is 2.55 lbs for the new style pump not much difference. The spin resistance from the impeller is also about the same. I was comparing a used one to new pump.
But I still like the later cast impeller design by a long shot. It does look heavy lol. I guess the ...

Re: improved water pump
Found the new style pictured on Amazon for $29.00 but the idiots sent me the old model style...figures and thats false advertising that one is completely different part number.. Returning it and looking for an actual source for the updated one at a decent price. The new style one I purchased for $60 ...

Re: improved water pump
Great to hear you do alot more on these than I do. But I had (2) pumps where the little pressed on thin impeller came loose and was spun loose on the shaft. Garbage for longevity / heavyduty-ness imo.
I did a quick check at a few places on the weight and they show what you are saying, but I know I ...

If you need to change a water pump on a 3800 n/a with relatively low milage go with the delco 252-693. It has the cast steel impeller, not the cheap tin trash original design that alway wears or comes loose. The disadvatage it weighs over 5lbs and is over 50$. If you have a high mileage motor just ...

If you decide to go new go Gabriel. They made them for Delco for years and still do. They will be closest to the OEM ride.

Re: oil mixed in my coolent
Yep I just had the exact issue on my 2004. It just turned 40000 but I thought it might go longer before replacing the lower intake. When I opened the motor, one of the coolant ports had alot of dex-slime. Found the plastic gasket failed on that side and the others were following. Dug out as much dex ...

Re: Subframe bushings don't fit replaced subframe ends
Sounds like you still have meat on the hole openings, so you can make them fit like Haro said.. consider yourself lucky the subframe isn't bored through ...otherwise onto the hockey pucks lol or replacement sub. Dorman is a one size fits all... if I remember the OEMs were color coded by size to fit ...

Re: CV Axles
If you or anyone still need these go to NAPA and get the OEM rebuilds...dont get any of the new aftermarkets. I made the mistake of turning in my originals for the core...should have kept them as a spare until finding a good local shop to rebuild them also.

Hello,
Had to say goodbye to my 02 Lesabre last summer due to rear coil spring breaking through the trunk thanks to the rust and crust state of IL . Saddest thing about it, I could still spin the tires and the car rode tight as ever despite the rust. Still had amazing torque for an NA motor of that ...

best part # for replacement speedo leds
Hello which led is best for speedo cluster replacement preferably without changing or adding resistors. Dont really need any stepper motors unless they ever really fail. Thank you.

Weird rainy day body wobble reveal after many years
Hi hope everyone getting through things well. This was a weird one I posted here a long time ago, where the car would wobble like it was missing a cylinder only when it was raining. I was chasing an electrical/ vac /fuel delivery issue but gave up because it was so infrequent and didn't always ...

Re: Delayed engagement?
Nice. I might try Lucas or something similar. It still happens when cold but not so much when it gets freezing temps. Seems somewhere it's not getting pressure and the cold holds the fluid viscosity higher..

Re: death shake options
I dont think I took pics, but this spring/summer I'm going to replace the rack and sway bar. I will check/replace the poly pieces and pucks to make sure they hold up. The poly was not rated for elements but all seems ok. I should get some good pics. I did go back to the heavier softer practice ...

Re: Delayed engagement?
Probably will try a few things like solenoids or a manual shift setup where you can adjust line pressure. Nothing to lose, I could always use those on another 3800 vehicle or 4t trans.

Re: Car pulls left while braking over 40 mph
If all those parts check look at the abs. I have a small seal leak going on and notice intermittent uneven drag that worsens at high speed hard braking. No codes.

Delayed engagement?
Hi guys, I can't find any codes but I get a delay when shifting from reverse to drive then it slams into gear. New fluid and filter awhile ago no change. I thought delayed engagement would throw a code and happens usually 2 to 3 or 3 to 4? Maybe more likely the TCC circuit or reverse servo? About ...

Part number
Anyone have the part number to the throttle body honeycomb mesh screen handy for 3800 series 2? Looks like most parts direct dealers removed the details on the TB for older models. Thank you.

Re: 2003 SSEI TEXAS CAR - worn out subframe bushings.
Hey Carl,
If I do the subframe removal on the garage floor, which is best way to support the engine/trans.? My guess from the top? And where is the best spot to support the car, my outer frame is pretty rusty. I have hockey pucks in the sub right now in the center locations, because the sub mount ...
