Passing CA Smog

Afternoon guys, it's looking like I may have to put the factory exhaust and intake back on to pass CA smog (I still have both for this reason). I'm trying to find a shady smog guys but it seems CARB has them running pretty scared these days. So I'm looking for some CARB legal exhaust that I can use ...

Re: Your Personal Observations with Tire Pressure and Tire W

My truck has bigish tires on it for a 2wd and its only a single cab short bed. It was with my BFG K/O's that I started to really look at the wear. Without dropping the pressure down pretty low the outer corners wouldn't contact the ground. Since my drag racing days I have always judged tire pressure ...

Re: Your Personal Observations with Tire Pressure and Tire W

I run about 26 in the front and closer to 22 in the rear on my truck with 285/75/16's. If not I would wear the middles out in no time.

I don't go by the sidewall (meaning the max psi rating), I go by the contact patch and or the amount of load that will be on them. If I know I'm going to have a ...

I don't know how you picked this car to start with but the outcome is surprisingly awesome. I've never really been a fan of this body style but you have made it look good. I kinda dig the wire wheels too.

Re: Taillight Paint

I would just paint it with some sort of plastic paint or even plasti-dip. May lean a bit more towards the plasti-dip because of its ease of cleaning up overspray. Plus it's only temporary.

Those wheels are a billion times better. (Not a fan of chrome wheels, particularly with lots of chrome)

Re: how do YOU close your hood

Hood gets dropped from about a foot or so. thin metal on cars these days.

The trunk usually gets closed by pulling on the latch that hangs down, to keep me from touching the paint on the spoiler. My car is usually dusty so I get it moving downward just fast enough to close.
Agreed! The trunk is ...

Re: led vs "regular" in taillight assembly

Be sure that any LED bulb you get, will have 360* of illumination. Otherwise, it won't fill the housing with light, similar to how a regular bulb does.

I wouldn't waste money on anything Silverstar. They're junk. Your housing lens is red, so why are you trying to increase the kelvin rating of the ...

Re: Broken connecting rod

I recently got a 96 Bonneville SE with 85k on it from my brother. It had some sub-frame issues. I fixed that with new metal and got it to pass state inspection. I drove it for a thousand miles and didn't have any issue with it. My son used it the other day and called me to say he was broke down ...

Re: Windshield tint

In CA I know that if you have an illegally tinted windshield it can be used against you in the event of an accident. Something to the effect of you knowingly obscured your vision thusly you are at fault for the accident. If you ever hit a pedestrian or something they would fry your ass around here ...
