The biggest question is how many pounds can your car stop, not how many it can get rolling or support before the suspension bottoms out. What do you plan on towing?

Re: 96 SE from florida
The one thing I'll always remember about my trip to Florida is how different the plant life looks there; it's quite a different looking world for someone like me that has lived in the northwoods his whole life.
It is not all palm trees and beaches though. There is still plenty of northern/western ...

I ran a set of the "Premium" Napa pads on my truck for 6K miles. They squealed like a SOB, even after getting the rotors turned. They also COATED the wheels with black soot/dust. I returned them. (~$85 for the front pads)

I think it might have something to do with the iPod version/firmware and pin-outs. I had a Sony HU with a built in iPod cable. I purchased my HU right before I got a new (next gen) iPod nano. The HU wasn't compatible with the switch to 5V charging, different pin-outs, and new firmware. My Ipod would ...

Re: So I got a Aeroforce Interceptor. A couple of questions.
This is how you set the "HP correction" feature on your Aeroforce.
1) Run your engine on a dyno to get your estimated HP
2) Display the "HP" parameter and record the max value from the gauge
3) Find the % difference and set your aeroforce to match.
Ex: If your gauge says 300 and your dyno run say ...

Re: very random supercharger question
I'm going to be honest here...If you had "above average" car knowledge, you wouldn't be asking questions about this stuff. You would understand why a Mustang engine doesn't make sense in a FWD GM H-Body. You would understand that extensive fabrication skills, knowledge, and money would be required ...

Re: New truck!!
I like it other than some of the chome stick-on pieces. I think some painted mirrors and handles would probably look better. I think some gap-guards in the back might not be a bad idea along with some 03+ Chevy tail lights. Overall a great looking ride. We need some dirty off road pics though.

I haven't seen that many 6.0/6.2 related engine complaints on the GM truck websites I go to? I know of the lifter issues with the AFM 5.3's, but thats about it. Sounds like you got the NHT package with the 3.73's. Are the pictures not working for anybody else?

Re: When gasoline goes to 15% ethonal
The destructive properties of ethanol to older and marine fuel systems is a fact as well. E10 has been a nightmare for boat owners (me included) who are worried about the o-rings, fuel lines, and gas tanks. We have a boat mechanic friend who informed us of the problems of the rubber breaking down ...

Re: I'm gonna do it! I'm going to tow with the GXP!
Jason, they're plenty for 99.9% of GXP owners. I understand they're not good for Road Racing, etc, but for a DD they're great.
Just be sure to leave yourself plenty of room for stopping.

Re: I'm gonna do it! I'm going to tow with the GXP!
Something to keep in mind...Most vehicles can get a boat/jet-ski/trailer up to speed, but the hard part is stopping them. Most people on the truck websites bolt on power adders, tunes, or gears and think they can safely tow more, but don't think to upgrade the brakes. I know the GXP probably has ...

Re: Photoshop request...
I found 2 styles of rims that I like for my truck. The Metal Moto 951's look the best IMO, but I don't like their offset (-12 vs factory +33). My front track width is already pushed out from my lift. I plan to lift a little more soon, so the track is going to go out farther. Going to the 951's will ...

Re: 2004 Silverado non-onstar
The reasoning is that people are looking for more volume/equalizer control and the ability to easily hook up and drive an amp for speaker and subwoofers. My factory radio is not Bose or amped, so I lack low's and mid's at high volumes because the HU tones them back. The factory HU on my Silvy is a ...

My ex girlfriend had a 92 Chevy Lumina with a small V6. She took her car to Jiffy Lube (not always the brighest workers) and they left the old gasket on there. She made it home and most of the oil drained out overnight. She made it about halfway to school (~10 miles) when the engine locked up ...

Re: 2004 Silverado non-onstar
I had to buy the adapter module for my 06 Silverado. I got a Scosche branded box from Walmart about 2 years ago. Every time the temps drop down into the 30's, the box locks up. I contacted tech support about it and they shrugged it off as the box needing to be reset by pulling the fuse. Why they ...
