Re: LED Headlights
Thank you for that information. I was kind of getting that idea the more research I did, so it's nice to have that confirmed. I think I might just go with some really nice halogens and get as white as possible with those.

LED Headlights
Hey, everyone! It been awhile since I've been on here, but I have some questions for all of my fellow Bonnie enthusiasts. I am becoming less and less satisfied with halogen headlight bulbs, so I'm looking at other options. The most appealing one, to me, would be to go with an LED conversion. They ...

Re: Losing Oil and Coolant
I will check both. Sad thing is that I replaced both of those just over a year ago. However, while tightening one of the UIM bolts, I think I heard something crack. So I will check all of the gaskets. Hopefully, it's not a valve problem at this mileage. Could the UIM and gasket have anything to do ...

Losing Oil and Coolant
So I wanted to get some opinions on this before I started taking the engine apart. Lately, I have been going through about 2 quarts of oil each month and my coolant overflow reservoir is empty almost every week, even if I fill it an inch over the full hot mark. There is an odd, greenish brown (like ...

Oh wait sorry. I know what that is. I actually did change that when I replaced the upper intake manifold awhile back.

Re: Where Is My Oil Going????
What exactly does that do with the oil? That's something I haven't changed yet so I might look into doing that next.

Where Is My Oil Going????
It's been awhile since I've posted on the forums, which is good because I haven't had any issues with Bonnie until now. My last project was replacing the LIM gaskets with the aluminum set. It went very smoothly and I wasn't losing any coolant or oil after that. Or so I thought.... I have barely been ...

Here we go again....
Well, it's been a few months since I've replaced my lower intake gaskets. I thought everything had gone perfectly. I had noticed no problems with coolant or oil levels...until today. I went to check my oil and it was about twice as high up on the dipstick as it should be. Then I looked at the ...

Grinding Noise After Starting
I'm sorry if there's already a thread on this, but I haven't been able to find one anywhere. Every time I start my car, there is a loud grinding sound about 15-20 seconds after I do so. The noise seems to be coming from the trunk and lasts for about 5 seconds. It started happening after I replaced ...

Re: Successful Intake Manifold Gasket Replacement?
Okay so I just got an oil change and have driven the car for a couple days. So far, everything seems okay. The coolant and oil levels seem to be holding steady, however there's still a smell coming from under the hood that I can't identify, but it's gotten weaker and can only be smelled faintly if ...

Re: Successful Intake Manifold Gasket Replacement?
It's like you're psychic or something. It is very cold here, and every time I open the oil cap, there is condensation that drips off. Haha. I will get it an oil change tomorrow and post an update after a little while. On the bright side, the engine revs much smoother, the power feels more evenly ...

Re: Successful Intake Manifold Gasket Replacement?
Well I found the source of one smell. There was a small coolant leak that I fixed. Bad news, I found milky oil on the bottom of my oil cap this morning after a 20 minute drive. So right now, I'm not a happy camper. I'm praying its a little coolant that spilled when I replaced the gaskets. My coolant ...

Re: Coolant leak
I just put the Fel-Pro gaskets in my car and they are well built, fit well, and are working great so far. Like myfirstbonnie said, only basic tools are needed, however I did buy a torque wrench just to be on the safe side when tightening the bolts on the intakes. I found links for the water pumps ...

Re: Coolant leak
Another vote for the coolant elbows. $9 on Amazon for aluminum ones and a quick fix after you drain the coolant. Maybe you wouldn't have to drain the coolant to replace them, one of the more experienced members might know, but I replaced mine when I replaced the LIM gaskets and there was still ...

Re: Temp running high
I'm not the most knowledgeable member here, but I figured I'd give my input. The most logical things I can think of if you're sure the t-stat is good is a blockage of some sort in the system, air pockets in the coolant, or bad radiator fans. Maybe you can stop for a cooling system flush? Otherwise ...

Re: Successful Intake Manifold Gasket Replacement?
It smells like something burning, but I'm not sure what. I'm not familiar with the smells of burning coolant and oil, so I can't describe exactly what it is. It smells sort of like it did before, which I'm assuming was burning coolant and oil because of the gaskets, just stronger. But nothing seemed ...

Drove it to school. Haha. But replaced the LIM gaskets, coolant elbows, and some other gaskets and O-rings yesterday. Now to find the cause of the burning smell....

Successful Intake Manifold Gasket Replacement?
I know that changing the LIM gaskets are a matter of not if, but when you'll need to on these engines. It was my time fairly early because of how long my car sat, so I did the repair yesterday. Everything went very smoothly and as I suspected, the old gaskets were flattened and broken. I replaced ...
