If he is telling you to do this to your 2001 SSEI,I would advise against it. A hi flow aftermarket cat would be a nice upgrade though. Gutting a cat on a OBD2 car will more than likely give you at least an intermittent CEL. OBD1 cars are no problem though, since they don't have an O2 sensor after ...

You may want to try cleaning the MAF before spending good money on a new one. Also, check for a vacuum leak or possible loose intake tube or air cleaner housing. A vacuum leak would cause the exact issue that you described. The leak would cause the hi idle until the PCM could correct it to the pre ...

With belt off, grab SC pulley and rotate back and forth. Should feel solid. If you feel any play, it needs a coupler. Simple and inexpensive to replace.
