Re: Doing a topswap...what else?
Thanks for the info Carl! I have been debating about pulley size. Ive been accumulating parts here and there to hide from the old lady till spring. Since my garage isn't heated, I'm waiting for warmer temps to get started. No sense in fighting freezing tools and frozen beer. I have a machine shop ...

Re: Doing a topswap...what else?
Last year the plenum failed and hydro locked the engine. I replaced the plenum, then I started to get misfire codes. I replaced all the plugs, wires, and coils. Still misfire codes. Someone commented that it was the head, so I had the heads worked on, and ported and polished. Still misfire codes. I ...

Re: Doing a topswap...what else?
Gosthawk, I thank you for your advise. Like you I admit that I read too many forums to mention. I have moved further away from this site since everyone wants to argue instead of help you, yet they know the right thing to do, but have no clue what they are talking about. The grand prix guys know what ...

Re: Doing a topswap...what else?
3 years ago I built a 1982 Buick Regal, replaced the 3.8 with a supercharged and blown 350 backed with a th350 turbo transmission and a ford 9" rear end. I had built that motor from the ground up. Gave it to my dad for his 60th birthday. He had bought it brand new, then scraped it after a collision ...

Re: Doing a topswap...what else?
Considering that stock is 205... it shouldn't be too hard to get there. When the tranny was rebuilt, the heavy duty parts were installed. Im not worried about the tranny, That was beefed up to support this mod.

Re: Doing a topswap...what else?
My goal is to hit around 400hp. This is a sleeper project, so a daily driver. I'm buying parts through the winter and will install them all when it gets warmer. The plan is to install as much as I can at once. If I have to port everything, upgrade parts, I can have it all done before the tear down ...

Re: Doing a topswap...what else?
I was thinking about rockers, and looking for 60# injectors. The tranny was rebuilt last spring!

Doing a topswap...what else?
I'm getting parts together for a top swap. I was wondering if there any other mods to do while the motor is disassembled. A differerent cam, temp probes, valves, are some ideas. My idea is to install everything at once instead of tearing down the motor twice. Any idea is helpful.

That looks great! I like the style of the se bumper cover over the ssei. have you found a way to solidify the slots?

Re: GAS LEAK?
Tonight I replaced the fuel pressure regulator. Pretty easy fix though the part was $60.00. Playing around with the throttle while the engine was running and found that the fuel line coupling to the rear fuel rail was leaking intermittently. Shut the motor off and investigated it further. It is ...

Shifting while wot
This might be a stupid question. While the pedal is to the floor, do you guys have the transmission in Drive, or is it better to start in 1 and shift through to D? I have shaved off some seconds shifting through the gears compared to being in drive. Yet im worried that the transmission cant handle ...

Re: GAS LEAK?
ok guys, sorry I finally got back to the car today. Last week was mid terms. I ran the car for a while, turned it off, and pulled the line off. I smelled it and it smelled like gas. I filled the tank up and calculated the fuel mileage, it was only 21.4mpg not good. If the lines aren't leaking, where ...

Re: How to get dual mufflers on bonneville SE?
I might be posting late, but I had the local exhaust shop install a dual exhaust setup in my se. I had them take off the resenator. They did a great job.

GAS LEAK?
The weather has been getting colder now and have started to use the heater in the mornings. Lately I have had a strong gas smell every time I turn on the heater. I looked over the fuel lines in the engine bay and they all looked good, no leaks. I changed the fuel sensor level indicator last month ...

Re: Topswap build!
I have been wanting to do this upgrade for a while now. Every post about upgrading to a supercharger says that the lower end will fail because of the internals are not strong enough. Wouldn't the internal parts be the same? Thanks for proving this upgrade is real, not a myth.
