Aftermarket HU in Grand Prix

Hi yall,

I've been wanting to re-install my aftermarket head unit in to my 2005 Grand Prix, but I am having difficulty figuring out exactly what I need for the install. The help on all the Grand Prix forums are sub-par, and quite frankly, not nearly as intelligent as the help from members on this forum. The first thing that is confusing me is which factory integration adapter I should get. I have On-Star (though I am not overly concerned with keeping it), and I also need to retain the chimes and the RAP. My car has the "Monsoon" speaker system. My first question is, is this the same or similar to Bose? Because on all the electronic websites for these adapters I can select "Grand Prix with Monsoon" but when all the options come up they are for with our without Bose. Does anyone know how this works?

I have also read about how some of these units from Metra (Axxess) are complete crap, but I can't seem to find the one I need from PAC or Scorsche, due to the confusion over the "Bose" and "Monsoon" terminology, as well as some places referring to them as Class I and Class II.

Please tell me someone in Bonneville land can help me! :sad5:

what GP forum are you on. CGP sucks but www.gpona.com is much better.

Thats the mounting bracket and harness adaptor you need. Youll want the one that retains onstar, at the very bottom.

If anyone wants to know, after mass amounts of research and phone calls, the Monsoon system is built on the same platform as Bose, and therefore uses the same harnesses. The best one available (after mass data collecting) is the PAC OS-2BOSE. It retains On-Star, the factory Monsoon amp, chimes, and RAP.
