tips for my 1900 mile trip

I'm all ears. I'm taking a one way trip from LA, Cali back to MN to pick up my
GXP. This will be my longest road trip of my life. I have no time limit and plan to do some sight seeing, but still get home in a reasonable amount of time. I don't plan on getting a hotel unless I need to. What do I need to do to prepare myself and/or the car.

Sleeping bag, food, snacks. Make sure, if the sign says 150 miles till next gas, you have over 150 miles worth of gas, LOL. Cruise control usage, unless you want some more haros on your record.

Yes, limit your driving time to about 500 miles per day and enjoy the ride.
Bring a credit card for emergencies.
Treat yourself to a shower every second night at a Motel 6.
Change the oil & filter before you leave.

I can't really bring a sleeping bag unless I can fit it inside my plane luggage. I probably won't buy any food or snacks until I get there.
I use cruise control like its going out of style, so no problems there.
I was thinking more of 1000 miles a day, is that unreasonable? If I leave on Tuesday evening I could get home on Thursday evening.
I have a $2000 line of credit available.
I wonder how much an oil change is in LA?!?! Depending on when it was last done, I might just wait until I get it home.
I won't be doing any sight seeing that involves spending money, this trip is soley to MAKE money.

Oh, don't check luggage unless absolutely necessary. Check all tires (and spare) before leaving LA. Don't wanna be stuck in WY with no tire and no spare. I know you know this, I'm just reminding you.

Don't forget the Apends adult diappers so you can go the entire 1000 miles without stopping.
5 hr Energy or Energy caffeine drinks. Make sure you get plenty of sleep to avoid accidents.

He's cheap. If he can find it for $20, he'll get it, LOL. People have used Atlas's for years. The only back roads he needs to know are LA streets, and roads around here.

GPS units are quite cheap right now. My gfs dad got the Mio Moov 500 from RadioShack for $149. It's basic, but we modded it to basically be a fully functional Windows 5 PDA..and it was EXTREMELY easy. It will come in handy, if not just for telling you what gas and food is nearby.
I would bring a CB (they're also cheap if you don't have one) because you may hit some patches of highway with no cell coverage...and they're fun when you're alone.
I also second the energy drinks - 5 Hr energy DOES work...I took it on my way to Myrtle Beach last summer.

When do you leave? I have a navi (a little large) I could lend you since I have no need for it in the forseeable future.

Very true. Sleep does so much more good than energy drinks.
