Oil pressure kit install question

Gasket has one raised side, does this go to block or adaptor?
Shim fits under spring inside the cup?
Thanks.
*edit* Looks like the gasket only goes one way and if that shim don't go inside the cup, it's too late. It's going back together momentarily.

Gasket only goes one way, shim in cup; correct.

What a PITA to get back together. :sad5:
Ended up breaking the gasket and using RTV to stick it back together while I manuvered things around and got a bolt started.
On the bright side....... no leaks and oil pressure is about 200 kp more than it was.
For the metricly challenged, instead of the needle being 1/4 below the straight up possition, it is now 1/4 past the straight up possition at idle and a little more when cruising down the road.
It idles now where it used to be at WOT.

It only went to the 3/4 mark at WOT? That seems a little low, but then again, maybe I'm just forgetting it's characteristics. I'm used to the truck going from 35 at hot idle to over 80 at WOT.
What kinda oil and filter you use?

Got Peruolator filter and 10-30 synthetic oil.
Remember it has 213,000 km on it.
Yah, my truck pegs out the gauge at anything more than half throttle.

Now I'm concerned. I installed this oil pressure spring in my 1994 PAU and I get 40 psi (on the factory gauge) at idle cold. It never seems to go past 40. When it gets hot, it idles just above the red. It instantly rises to 40 when I give it just the smallest amount of RPM. Fresh 10w30 dino oil and a WIX filter. No noises from the engine.

If the gasket broke and you used RTV, keep a close eye on it. I tried and my RTV failed because of where it was located.
Oil pressure will only read on the gauge as well as the gauge can read and the sensor can send. The 92-99's aren't known for their great accuracy. For that I would suggest using a mechanical gauge.

It broke right at the top inside bolt hole. Hopefully it will hold up, I don't want to take that thing off again any time soon.

Gave it the torture test today and to be honest, I'm not as impressed as I was yesterday.
With oil at operating tempurature I'm seeing less pressure than I was before.
It's acting the same as what Ultra Boost posted.

Possibly an internal blow-by inside the cover due to the gasket? I had a remarkable improvement in oil pressure. AFAIK, I was the first to even try one in a Series 1 and was very impressed with the results. I'll be putting one on the 95 one of these days.

If I took a pic of the gasket, could you mock up where it broke for us?
Bill...glad to see those measurements I got for you went to good use.

I was lucky to have a spare S1 adapter here. I figured you'd have an old S2 laying around.
BTW, there's more to the kit than meets the eye. Without going into details, I did a careful comparison, and discovered why this kit isn't just what it appears to be. It's well-thought-out to produce exactly what they wanted.

I have a kit installed in both my Series 2 and Victor's Series 1.
I agree, that the gauge in the 00 seems way more accurate and repeatable than the 94.
In the 00 after the kit was installed, the pressure increased by 2 small tics on the gauge.
In the 94 I don't know what it was before the rebuild and new oil pressure sensor but it was at 3/4 scale...until the sensor failed again and it is now full scale. It only reads accurately when cold for the first 10 minutes of operation.
I think it needs mechanical oil pressure and boost gauges.

Yes, I could.
But I'll do you one better. Picture from Intense website, red line is where is broke.
If I can find another gasket I'll change it out next oil change just for piece of mind. Just have to make sure there is another pair of hands to help me get things lined up while bolts are installed.
(or use crazy glue)

The gaskets on this side of the border are about $3 at the dealerships. I did have one spring a leak there and don't remember if it's the high pressure side or not. If it leaks..it'll leak out quickly, keep an eye on the oil pressure and shut down if you see big changes that aren't rpm driven.
A trick for putting those on is putting two bolts (opposing corners) in the adapter and sliding the gasket onto the bolts. Then hold the adapter in place and thread one bolt a couple of turns, now start the other bolt. There should be enough threads that you don't need to fight the plunger when starting them. then get those bolts almost snugged and put your other two bolts in, tighten it all down with a smile.

Or install it with the motor on a stand. It's alot easier!

Somebody mail that man a gasket, fer Crissakes!
In a standard letter-sized envelope, to avoid the tax police, of course
