Ok I have a 2000 GPGT and my trac off light and abs light are on. Im figuring that means its a speed sensor. Do all four wheels have them or is it just the front? also, without taking it to a shop is there any way to tell which one it is? for some reason my scantool will not respond to my 2000 or my mom's 1997 GPGT. Please Help!!

Yes, all four wheels have the wheel speed sensor. When I checked with AutoEnginuity about why some GM cars ABS system isn't read by their scan tool I was told that they use the older ALDL system which wasn't supported. The new Actron ABS scan tool doesn't support it, either. I believe 2005 is the first year covered for the Grand Prix. So, you'll need either a Tech II, or a handful of other expensive scanners to read it.

Some have had some luck by comparing sensor resistances, or by spinning the wheels and comparing voltage output.

You're right in that the wheel speed sensor is the most likely cause, but there are others, including corroded or bad connections, and the EBCM (electronic brake control module) itself.

Ok problem fixed just by a simple taking off each wheel and checking and sure enough the front passenger side was severed. After soldering a new connection for it, it is back together and fixed and working as it should!!! Now onto my last problem, the front driver strut lol!! The little things to fix are worth it when you get the car dirt cheap

when replacing struts i have always taken to a shop.. ya its a lil more expensive but them spring and become a very dangerous projectile if not removed in a safe / correct manner..

shop around and find when they are one sale.. when i replace the one in the bville. i think i paid 75 each for them and then 25 to have them installed.. and then the cost of an alignment.. but was still like 275$ out the door.. and it included a warranty...
