E15 Fuel?

Hey All,

I just read an article that said the government just decided to increase the amount of Ethanol in gas and has issued a new mandate of 15% Ethanol in gas.

Just wondering how my 01 SSei will run on that cheap fuel.... Hoses....fuel pump....plastic....rubber gaskets not designed for using alcohol don't fare well in that environment... I'm guessing injectors could also suffer.

Small engines are even more of a question...they already DO NOT like E10 gas gumming up carbs and fuel lines.....

You might just want to keep an eye on your numbers is all...there are people that have converted to run E85 in their cars...not a cost savings but performance/cost savings compared to race gas is there (well was there, who knows now days with gas prices like they are)...here is a thread about E85 conversion...biggest is ensuring the type of fuel tank you have, larger injectors are needed and a custom tune if you take it to the E85 level...E15...you will probably just get worse fuel mileage to be honest.

Thanks for the response.....that's an interesting observation... They keep whittling away at things and sometimes it's hard to keep up.
