Upgrading Brakes on a 2002 SE

Recently picked up a 2002 SE. In searching the local upullit yard, I found a 2005 GXP and a 2003 SSEi.

I will be grabbing the springs, swaybars, and strut tower brace from the GXP.

From what I have read, the rear brakes all use the same caliper, just different cailper brackets, I'd like to confirm that.

On the fronts... I'm planning on grabbing the GXP calipers and brackets. But I won't be upgrading my rims past the 16 inch factory rims that on for a while. Unless I find a deal :)

On the SSEi fronts, are they the same calipers as what I have on my SE? Or would I be better off doing the F-body caliper upgrade?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forums!

The sway bars will make the biggest difference from the GXP. The strut bar seems to be more of a decoration than anything else.

Rear calipers are the same, bracket is what makes the difference.

I do not think you will fit GXP nor f-body calipers with the 16s. The SSEi calipers are slightly bigger and use a slightly bigger rotor. I would use those, or not do the upgrade at all.

I wanted the GXP calipers for when I can upgrade rims.

00Beast mentioned you might be able to use the F-Body calipers with 16 inch rims.

I'll see how things work out and will post the results.

F-Body calipers fit with 12 inch rotors using SE 16 inch rims.

I used calipers and rotors from a 2002 Trans Am, brake lines from an SLE.
