HVAC malfunction after battery change
2002 Bonneville SSEI. After working on the coolant system we turned the heat on high to burp the car. Once we finished with the coolant system we switched batteries out between our 2000 and 2002 SSEI's. When I started the 2002 the heat came on full blast and I immediately reached over and turned it off. The very next time I got in the car the HVAC would only blow hot on the driver side and cold on the passenger side. It would still change modes between the floor, dash, and defrost. It was this way for 2 months until we tried to reset it. Now it will no longer change modes. Still hot on drivers side and cold on the passenger side. We tried several different methods but never could actually get it into the reset mode where it starts at 74 degrees and runs all of the test functions. I was hoping someone would know the HVAC reset instructions that are specifically for the 2002 Bonneville SSEI.

Tech2 required for an airmix actuator re-calibration.

These can be recalibrated using the following procedure:
Calibration Procedure without a Scan Tool
1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Remove the battery positive voltage circuit fuse of the Instrument Panel Control Module.
Important: The module memory will not clear if the battery positive voltage circuit fuse is installed in less than 60 seconds.
3. Wait 60 seconds.
4. Install the fuse.
Once this is done, the Instrument Panel Integration Module will reset and automatically perform an actuator recalibration. I've always used a Tech2 myself, but this will also get the job done.
*** The fuse you need to pull is in the rear fuse block and labelled "HVAC BATT" and will be rated at 10A. DO NOT confuse this with the other fuse labelled only "HVAC" or the procedure will not work.

yes, when my battery died, it reset the blend doors and now my hvac works well

Will this also work in my 2000? Mine has been like this since I bought it from previous owner, blows hot on drivers side n cold on passenger side on ac, I figured a blend door motor issue, but maybe just needs a reset?ddalder wrote:These can be recalibrated using the following procedure:
