Any tail light options out there yet?

I havent been on the forum for quite a few years. My mom developed breast cancer and her Town Car was a little much for her to drive. I gave her my 2001 Bonneville SE. She passed away almost 3 years ago now.
My dad still has the car. We were talking about getting it ready for my son who turns 15 this June. The issue is the god awful tights. After searching the internet. Still no aftermarket and GM says they are discontinued.
If I remember correctly the GXP? Or whatver the other car is with the cool tail lights doesnt work on 01 SE models. Anyone have any info I may have missed?

GXP taillights can be installed.
There isn't and will never be an aftermarket support of this type of thing for these cars. Their time of popularity has already passed; you hardly see these on the roads anymore.

Thanks. I was looking at some nice GXP tail lights earlier on ebay and they had it stated that it would only fit 04 sle and ssei and gxp. didnt make sense because i think se sle and ssei tail lights are all the same fit. the year could have been an issue

I don't see why they shouldn't fit, as the 2000-2005 cars are essentially identical in this aspect.
Another option is to see if harofreak00 has any through his website -

The GXP tail lights are only specified in that listing because for the 2004-05 GXP and 05 SLE, that's what GM installed. Electrically, they are identical to all the other 2000-05 tail lights. Appearance wise there are some differences. Most notably, the GXP tail lights are smoked and do not have an amber lens for the signal lights. Instead, they use a "special" amber bulb. I say "special" because it's a 5701KA which is definitely brighter than a standard 3157A, 3157NA (or similar). This is the only application GM ever used this bulb for. It needs to be brighter because of the smoked lens. The center reflector on the trunk lid is also different in appearance but physically interchanges with any 2000-05 Bonneville. If you take a look at some photos of various 2000+ Bonnevilles on autotrader or similar site, you'll see the styling differences. Many people on the forum have done the "plug-and-play" upgrade to GXP tail lights and center reflector.

I installed the GXP lights on my 2003 SLE. Love the look. Here's a before and after. My original ones had been cleared, meaning the amber was removed.

Thanks for the replies. I installed a set of GXP tail lights earlier this week and they look great! I am debating between tinting the center reflector until its black or buying a matching one like nos4blood70 has on his.
My son wont start driving until late june. so i have some time and im currently looking to upgrade the 16 inch stock wheels with an aftermarket 18 inch wheel since the car is gonna need tires soon anyways.

There are plenty of people with incomplete GXP tail light sets on the Facebook group, I'm sure you can find one there.
