Gotta replace Transmission cooler lines is it easy?

One of the lines on the passenger side of the radiator on the 1998 ssei is leaking. I’ll prolly just replace both lines. Is it pretty straight forward? How much tranny fluid should I expect to loose? I did buy the handy tool to make it easier to unclup the lines.

Yes, it's pretty easy.
It's easier if you spray some Kroil or PBBlaster on the fittings that go into the nuts.
Many people use a thin screwdriver to remove the retaining clip.
I bought the tool.

With hoses and lines, I figure if one was leaking, the other isn't far behind.
Don't recall exactly how much fluid came out when I did mine.
Not more than 2 quarts IIRC.

Ok sounds good. Yea I’m just gonna do both lines as well. No sense in taking a chance.

Highly recommend buying GM lines. Haven't had much luck with aftermarket. Tubing size at push in seems seems inconsistent

Go with Dorman or ACDelco lines. Might as well do a fluid change while you're there.

I went with the sunsong ones from rockauto. If they don’t fit ineill return them. I’m only gonna have the car for about 3 more months. The. I get a company vehicle. I don’t want to take the chance on the line letting go and smoking the tranny. I’d like to sell it for something. And guesses on how long to change both lines?

If it all comes apart and goes together without issues, maybe an hour tops.

Well everything went some what smooth. The quick disconnect tool didn’t really help becuase everything was so rusted and gummed up. The one that is on the lower passenger side was a huge pia. Not just becuase it is in a tight spot but that one was so rusted I broke off the connector. So I then had to take the connecting bolt off and order a new one. The new part doesn’t look exactly like the old one but according to rock auto it should fit. The new lines fit but it’s not as perfect as the old ones. Which at this point I don’t care as long as it works. Rest of the parts should be here Monday.
