Oil Pressure Guage reads "0"

My 04 GXP has a reading of "0" on the oil pressure gauge. Would this more likely be a bad sending unit or stepper motor in the gauge cluster? Vehicle runs fine and only has 63,000 miles.

Does the gauge do its sweep on startup? If it does, then its the sending unit.

If it were the oil pressure sending unit OR anything in that circuit and it was shorted out or faulty, it would read maximum/infinite resistance, which in turn would peg your oil pressure gauge to maximum NOT 0.

So I'm gonna say it's NOT the sending unit...

The gauge sweeps normally at start and then goes to zero and stays there. So I'm gonna say its not the gauge?

Sending unit for sure.

I think that it is a "fun" replacement. When changing out the front motor/tranny mount, the oil pressure sensor is easily accessible with the subframe dropped and the mount & bracket removed.
