Rear control arm bushings and shocks...

So i wanted to share my project yesterday evening. Top tip... If you don't have a lift I would recommend NOT doing the control arm bushings yourself.. It was a stupid job to with a lift, trans jack, jack stands and air tools. The rear shocks on the other hand are about a 15min job... so if you need to do them they are CAKE! 2 upper 13mm bolts in trunk, 2 10mm bolt on the arms and 1 air line and out.

Rear control arm bushings.. Make sure you get 2 sets (4 total bushings), unlike my dumb ass who only got 1 set lol.
Had to Lower the entire sub frame down (10 bolts) after removing the caliper from the spindle, disconnecting the shocks disconnecting sway bar, removing the rear springs and rear track links. THEN you can get the 4 big ass bolts out of the control arms to remove them. the rear Arms are massive! i ended up using a big ball joint remover to press out the old bushings and smashing the new ones in..

Awesome- thanks for taking the time to take pictures and post.

Any thought of replacing the entire rear control arms as an alternative to removing and replacing the bushings?

If you have the Ball joint press its no problem, the press in and out in like 5 seconds.. the arm is massive! the fronts i replaced the entire arms cause they are cheap and small. the rears are no joke massive. then you would need to swap the hubs and everything over as well... they dont bend and not broken so no need to replace them.. On top of that Rock auto doesnt list rear control arms... For the $6 the bushings cost i was happy with just pressing them out.

You replied to a post from 2016. Hopefully harofreak00 or someone else with the knowledge you seek notices this active post, and answers.

Alternatively, you could post in the general chat section. That could get you a faster response.

Might need to order something straight from GM, but it may be discontinued. It would worth seeing if the Lucerne rear CA bushings are the same and can be used in place of the likely discontinued bushings. Just a thought!
