2004 GXP intermittent HVAC blower motor

Sorry I posted this in wrong section before(non GXP)....

Fan motor intermittently stops.
Will start/stop when hitting a bump in the road, or kicking the left side of the panel above your feet on the passenger side.
Fan makes a small abnormal noise when running and won't reach the highest blower setting when it is working.

So I'm guessing the problem is the motor itself. I was searching around the forum and I was reading that it also could be the resistor that is next to the motor??
Wondering if anyone could tell for sure by the symptoms...?

I looked around online and the cheapest I found for a GM part was 180 something. Can anyone direct me to anywhere cheaper?
Also I saw a tutorial that seemed pretty simple as a do it yourself, but it wasn't a bonneville GXP. Think it was Buick or a Grand Prix. Anyone have a tutorial on a bonneville GXP?

Thanks for your help

Frank

hi, don't buy parts until you know what the problem is..... get down there and inspect the motor, resistor, and connections for breaks and corrosion would be your first step

Most often, the reported problem has been failed brushes within the motor. Some have also reported melted connectors.

Failed blower brushes, you need a new motor.

How about a reputable place to order the motor from?

anyone who has had to replace in the past have the Correct part#? Edit, I believe the correct part# is blower motor 89018521

And a step by step tutorial? Ok, answering my own questions,lol. Found this;

The blower is relatively easy to get to and remove. I removed the kick panel under the glove box - two screws right under the glove box door.
Unplug two connectors attached to the panel - light and a sensor. Set panel aside.
The motor is right about where your left toe would be.
Unplug the three-wire connector from the motor. (The center wire has +12V).
Twist off the air vent hose.
Remove 3 philips screws from the motor.
Motor drops out. Ready to be replaced.

Just in case anyone else has this issue;

They have the motor at autozone with lifetime warranty for $140 something.

Going to give it a shot.

Frank, Did replacing the blower fix your issue? Or was it something else?

I started having the issue before putting my 04 GXP into storage for the winter.

Thanks

If your issue is the motor working intermittently, and smacking it will make it work again, you will definitely need to replace it. Rock Auto has good deals. Avoid the TYC one. Mine is noisy 3 years later.
