Alright the rac times out at 10 min fine, but doesn't shut off when any doors are opened. Any ideas?

As you're aware, Retained Accessory Power (RAP) is of course only one means to shut things down. Are you having any other problems with the driver's door (inability to control windows in all/some of the doors) or other doors not working properly? If not, your problem may be isolated to the latch assembly in the driver's door, or a wiring problem. I'd have to run out and check my car but I believe that the car only shuts down when the driver's door is opened, not the other doors.

All the windows work from the master switch and from each door. the key fob locks and unlocks all doors.

Just to confirm, your concern stems from the radio not turning off when you open the driver's door? Is it OEM or aftermarket?

aftermarket with the acc wire ran to the cig orange wire, it worked before. But the car has been sitting due to rod knocking.

I can't see any way it would have worked before (except as described when RAP times out). The cigarette wire will remain hot until RAP times out, unless you change the fuse positions in the under hood fuse block. BUT, if you do that, it will never shut down because they will always be active. Opening the door creates a signal on the data bus that shuts things down but this is completely independent of the cigarette lighters.

but if the lights shut down when raps times out they should also shut down when the door shuts raps down

The lights and cigarette lighters are not controlled the same way and are not wired together. Interior lights for example will not turn on if the door is opened when the ambient light sensor on the dash believes it's daytime. The interior lighting involves several more variables that dictate operation and RAP is only one of them.

RAP in my car will turn off when any door is opened, for what it's worth.
If you're looking for a good fuse to tap into for a turn-on lead for the radio, try IGN3 in the rear fuse block.

He mentioned in the first post that opening any of the doors will not cause it to shut down. So I was thinking something else but a bad door switch under different circumstances would be a perfectly valid consideration.
