New from St. Louis

Hello!

Just picked up a 2002 SSEI for my girlfriend. She totaled her 2014 focus and was really discouraged after the accident. Somebody turned left in front of her as she was traveling at 35mph Rather then being stuck with another payment, I found her this for the next year or so until she feels comfortable buying new again.

2002 SSEI with 128k.

I plan on doing the following in the next week or so;
- intake manifold gasket
- coolant elbows
- cat replacement
- oil pressure sending switch
- she wants a double din with bluetooth and back up camera... I'm sure there's plenty of info on here that I'll be referencing

Thanks in advance for all the help!

Welcome! Glad to have you join us! Glad no one was injured in the accident. The car did it's job. I believe there are two members from STL. The car looks great. Post photos of the inside and outside when you can. - BC

Why would she be discouraged? Even though it's a four letter "F" word, it looks like it did exactly as it was supposed to do. I don't see any infringement to the passenger compartment. Everything crumpled down and away from the occupant area.

Thanks, guys! The focus did a great job. She's discouraged because she feels like she is being punished (I.e. Having to pay a higher premium, deal with shady insurances, etc...) for somebody else's mistake. So far I love the 3800. I'll post pictures soon.

I thought she was upset over the car, my misunderstanding.

Welcome to dealing with Fly-by-night, shopping mall insurance companies feeding on lower income people who just want to meet whatever state minimum coverage requires.

I had this situation when I was rear ended in my GTP. The idiot that hit me had some hole in the wall, polish insurance company that you see advertised on UHF channels at 2am. They wanted me to "settle" with them for far less than what damages ended up being. Instead of waiting on them, I paid my deductible, let State Farm pay for it on my policy, then let State Farm deal with them. State Farm has more clout and legal capability than I do, so let them duke it out while I was happily driving my car again, stress free...

I hope everybody is OK. Bad thing to have a car accident even worse when somebody is hurt.
Tongue in cheek response here but I think this is a win-win-win for your girlfriend. She gets to drive a Bonneville SSEi, she gets to pay off the Ford Focus (no car payment) and she (you) get to hang out on the pontiacbonnevilleclub website. Some people have all the luck.

Welcome!

Sucks to see the accident, but I love seeing a Galaxy Silver 2000+.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!!! Yes, both parties walked away relatively uninjured. Could have been much worse.

I love the thing so far. Very impressed with how quick it is. Unfortunately, she lives in Indiana and I live in St. Louis, so I only have the weekends to mess around with it, but I'm stoked to start working on the thing.

FYI, I have always loved GM. My first ride was a 2001 s-10 2.2 5 speed. I still have the thing and DD it. I refuse to get rid of her.

You'll find a good majority of us here are pro-GM.

Anything else is uncivilized... ;)
