Yay!!!!! ... The 3.8 is almost back together except for the air filter and an alternator bolt/bracket...so we decided to try and start her up - and whaddya know?? turn the key and starts right up with no coughs or hiccups or cels...but there is just a medium loudish air type noise from the TB side/area - so we just positioned the air filter in place and about 50% of it was muffled...but I was just wondering if anything comes to mind as to what to look at...its not a high pitched or whistling noise like the pcv might cause...we're going to look at it closer tomorrow assuming it doesn't rain again (you lucky guys with garages don't have to worry about that!!) I know its next to impossible to diagnose noises through a website, but maybe there are some obvious sensors or something to look at that we're unaware of - will post better symptoms tomorrow.....As always, thanks for all your help.

I had my EGR stove pipe cracked around the base when it meets the manifold and it made a noticeable sound along with a CEL. The sound didn't change when revving the engine up. Good luck!
