P0440 and "Check Gas Cap" Annoyance
Posted: Sat May 17, 2014 10:10 pm
I've been living with a constant "check gas cap" message and eventually a P0440 code for about a year. I will clear out the code and a few days later, I get the "check gas cap" message and then eventually the P0440. Seems to happen more frequently in warm weather. I do accumulate quite a bit of corrosion on the filler neck, but do my best to keep it cleaned off with steel wool.
In previous posts, I've seen luck with replacing evap solenoids, but wanted to throw a post on here before I go replacing things right and left. Doesn't seem to be affecting performance at all, but then I've been living with it for so long who knows really.
Any advice is appreciated!
