Need help: Tranny issue.

Ok so I had my tranny replaced two months ago with one that has 120,000 miles on it. Everything was fine til late last week when the issue began. When I start the car and put it into gear, I can hear it shifting and my doors lock but the gear wouldn't engage. After running through the gears, it would finally work and shift normally and smooth through the gears. This morning I can't get it to engage no matter what I try. I hear it shifting but it simply isn't putting power at all to the wheels. Help!

Assuming when you get it engaged it shifts fine after that, I'd say your linkage is off somewhere. Bring it back to the shop and they should be able to adjust it.

I hope that's all it is. Currently it will not engage into ANY gear. I was thinking it sounded like no fluid was getting into the torque convertor, and maybe a filter change would do the trick, but that was changed two months ago.

I got home from work and went to the car. I have it parked up a alight slope faxing my garage, and none of the gears engaged again. However, when I out it in neutral, I can't get the *dang* thing to roll backwards, which it easily should given the grade of the slope. So...what am I looking at? Can it be a sensor? Some kind of module? I can't get it to a repair place without surely damaging the tranny as it sits stuck in the driveway.
Am I better off parting it? As much as I hate to even consider that, since she has a newer tranny and recently redone engine work.

Check your fluid level, i changed my fluid and filter and put in what looked like the correct amount of fluid. and a couple weeks after, it would have a very delayed shift into gear if i didnt let it warm up. My boss told me that you can overfill these trannys by about a half quart, because if you try and shift it right off of cold startup, it doesnt get fluid fast enough and wont engage. So i filled it with an extra half quart, and i havnt had a problem with it not engaging ever since. and that was months ago now. If you try this and it doesnt fix it, then id check for a leak, otherwise you may have a bigger problem.

I was a quart low last Friday so I added a quart, brought it to the full mark, and it's still there. I had it running foe ten minutes and it won't engage into any gear. For a second I thought first gear was gonna engage but nothing.
Anyone wanna buy a parts car :(

Anyone near New Ulm, MN have a code scanner? I'm throwing an engine light but can't get it to a parts store to test it; and NAPA doesn't have one I can borrow.

What does the linkage look like and how could I tell if it was bad or if something was wrong looking with it? What can I do to try and troubleshoot it? I can't get under it to drop the pan.

These cars don't use linkage. They have a gear selector on the transmission and a shift cable. The positions for the shift cable are determined by the gear selector on the trans. I don't believe that it is adjustable.
Thats why you see once in a while if the shift cable stretches you are SOL, have to get a new one.

Does this situation sound like a stretched cable?
