I need a new daily driver.....

This may sound stupid coming from me. But I need a new daily driver, 1997 is gone and I want something I don't have to think twice about getting in and going hundreds of miles (i.e Yukon is a gas pig.)

So far I've looked at:
1.) 2007 Buick Lucerne, it was nice but not the right car for me.
2.) 2004 Park Ave Ultra, mechanically the car was great. New struts, brakes, tires, rebuilt trans. New sunroof was broke and rims very corroded and overall just dirty.

After driving the park ave, I think I'm back to a Bonneville. Who woulda guessed

Don't disown me for this but I was even considering a black 03-11 Town Car, of course I couldn't leave it stock. ;)
It is a V8 and right wheel drive but I don't think I'm ready to stray from the GM family, haven't drove one either so I don't know if I'd even like it.

My only criteria is that the body has to be 99% flawless and have no rust. I can deal with pretty much anything else.

I loved the 1997 and its long lived L36 but its time for something with more power.

So I'm thinking either 1992-1999 SSEi or a Black GXP.

My practical logical side says get this (if its clean):

My stupid yolo, just buy it said says get this: (seems overpriced though)
http://madison.craigslist.org/cto/4303562010.html

Just a little leary of the GXP after what I've been through previously but I guess I do all my own work so it'd just be more labor for me. But it will have all the more 00+ problems as well.

Or if you guys run across anything please post it up.

I say give that 97 a shot. I'll go look at it Monday morning if he's free then.

He said he's busy this weekend. I'll give him a shout and see what Monday looks like. And thanks again! I just hope its as nice as the pictures. Sometimes pictures can be so deceiving.

Get the GXP!
You could always part it out, if it didn't pan out for you! LOL!!

What's the budget? Just a thought about gas, stay away from the town car as it won't do even 3800 mileage plus they drive like a big floppy boat (at least the two crown vics I've driven).

Ideally less than $3,000 but I know to find anything clean for that it will have to have mechanical issues. I'd consider as much as $6,000 though, depending on the vehicle.

I've just always liked the look of the town car. (03-11) And we had a P71 for a while and that thing hauled. Only reason I was even considering one is I have always liked the looks, and I know they are very reliable. (i.e. used for livery service)

I realize the town car and north star are V8s so they won't get 3800 mileage but right now I'm getting 9mpg so even if I can increase that, it'll be saving me money.

Thought about just saying to heck with it and drive the 1994 but I don't want to get her salty.

Aye. But if I did that I'd probably blow the budget. Have to do a L67 or Caddy 4.9 swap and then where would I be?

Hadn't even thought of those though......

Hmmm....I forgot I do have a Northstar just sitting around

There's quite a few down here in fl, including several 88's. I'm not an expert but I have read that they actually handle snow pretty good due to the light weight and near 50/50 distribution

Just looked up the cost of a swap :sadeyz: You'd have over $5,000 into it just for a swap depending which engine you choose. I like the idea but I think I have to stay with the practical 5 seater car.

Wish I had the money for this: http://chicago.craigslist.org/sox/cto/4343594507.html

I'd be a leery of a GXP with that many miles. The paint looks great but the engine may become trouble.

That's because the car had to be repainted. Where it was parked they were painting industrial equipment and oversprayed the car.

I was dead set on the SSEi, but that turned into a $hitstorm, so that one is off the table.

Am I crazy for even considering this: http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/cto/4350356806.html

I swear the Northstar is like poison, you know you are going to get burnt at some point but just can't resist. That exhaust note :sadeyz:

Uh well. Ya see....Yukon is going away, *fingers crossed* So I'm shopping for a new daily driver.

You should know me by now, I go through cars like 6.0L burns gas ;)

That Caddy looked very well maintained and low miles for the price.
