Congratulations!! I had to pull my 94 se trans to fix it. The project took forever. I'd love to confirm yu have a 2000 Bonneville? If so that's a huge change and I could relax knowing my weakening trans would be fixed.

yes indeed i have a 2000 bonneville. i did plenty of research on band replacement and everyone says you need to goto a transmission shop or have experience in trannys. i had zero experience but had no choice but to try to fix it myself. there is a set of videos on youtube (4t65e hd dissasembly in car and assembly in car ) where he replaces the foward band w/o tranny removal, and i used that for reference many times. (watched it at least 10 times before starting)regardless what people say,it was alot of work, but take your time, keep track of everything and use as much info you can from the web and i can tell you it is not as bad as i was led to believe. if u have any problems STOP and look it up.
if you can work on cars ,you can totaly do this.

yw my friend. and thats why i posted this, because everywhere i looked when people were asking about such a job there was no one (like me)who said anything about trying to do this and what happened. believe me if i had the dough to fork over i would ve done as everyone said and taken it to a shop. but i couldnt so i gave it a shot (had nothing to lose ,car couldnt have gotten worse )and it turned out great against "all odds".
