My rear window broke the other day, what is involved in replacing it? I'm pretty sure I can get one from a junk yard.

There are 3 different rear windows. The large up and down windows, the quarter glass, and the rear windshield. What one?

If you've never done it before, let a pro do it.
You'll need to remove all the old glass and adhesive, clean up the surface, prep the surface, install the adhesive and then use a helper to position the glass.

I've done it on older vehicles, with a seal around the outside, I thought thats how the window was help in place. So its actually glued in? I don't have 500 to have pro replace it.

Yes they are glued in. Nobody should be charging $500 to replace the rear glass. I just had a HUD windshield installed for $250 by Safelite. I suggest you call around for the best price.

If you have comprehensive insurance, you can have them step in, depending on your policy.

And Andrew, a quick look on Rockauto.com lists the rear windshield as $250, not even counting shipping or labor...
I am hoping I don't ever have to pay for one of those

Never said RockAuto was a good place to buy glass. Any local shop probably has like a $100 cost on that glass.

I called Safelite when my front windshield developed a crack across the bottom.
My insurance wouldn't cover it.
Safelite did a great job and charged me around $300, IIRC.
After seeing them do the work, I was very glad I did not try to do that project myself...
Call them or go online for pricing...they come to you, at home or work...

I bought a 2002 Bonneville last year with a broken back glass, I found one on
www.car-part.com at a local yard for $45 and had an installer put it in for me for around $60.

Actually it is 592 from safelight, 500 is my deductible. I'm going to try and get the glass at least and then see what it will cost to have installed.

Like I said, go to
http://www.car-part.com and look in your area.
Just a quick look, I see that Village Motors in Fleetwood has a couple for $75 each. I would bet you can have it installed for $100 or less leaving you with less then $200 all together.
