Tuned stock exhaust?

Hey guys I was talking to my uncle, who is a car nut like me, lately about my 93 Bonnie and he suspects that the exhaust, which is stock, was tuned by Pontiac, because if you listen to my exhaust it sounds like a beast and if you listen to a stock Buick lesabre which has the exact same engine, supercharged and all, the Buick is soooo much quieter than mine. Every now and again people ask me when they hear the car idle if there is an 8 in it and they are oddly quite surprised that its a 6. So does anyone know if pontiac purposely did this or is it just my car bc unfortunitly there aren't many 93 ssei's around that I've been able to compare.

The reason your car's sound is louder is the 93's did not use a resonator.

The LeSabre never came supercharged, that was the Park Avenue Ultra. As said, no resonator in '93 so it will have a different tone to it. Also, the Series I has a lower exhaust tone then the Series II. You also get welded tubular exhaust manifolds on the Series I vs. the Series II cast units that don't flow as well.

My '93 SSEi sounded really good at idle and light throttle with a Flowmaster 80 series muffler.

Pontiac vs Chevy/Buick/Olds allways has a throatier exhaust note.. my monte carlo was noticably quieter then a Grand Prix (same year/motor). its something they did for the "Driving Excitement" line up.

Obviously they tune the exhaust to fit the vehicle that it's in. Don't want loud raspy exhaust on a Park Avenue Ultra, or vice versa on a GTP.

Gotcha, yea I sometimes get asked if I've got a v8 and people are shocked when it's a 6, I love the note of my 93, it sounds like a beast, and yes you are right, idk why I always seem to get the park ave and lesabre mixed up
