Car stops accelerating under power

Hi all, a week ago I noticed my check engine light came on for 30 seconds then went out, then yesturday it came on again then went out, I figured it was emissions because I failed emissions, then my mechanic took the car, 2 hours later it somehow passed, which is why I figured it was due to emissions but then today I decided to see if it would miss so I gave it about 2 pounds of boost, it was fine for 2 seconds, then the light came on and, it didnt miss bc I know what a miss feels like, the engine more or less just stopped accelerating then after 2 seconds the light went out and the engine was back at full strength. I just replaced the plugs, denso iridium with MSD wires both replaced in may about 3000 miles ago. What in the world is going on here, I use shell premium, replaced the fuel filter 10k miles ago and use Mobil one synthetic, does anyone know what's going on here. ( also I replaced the supercharger about 2 1/2 years ago)

Knowing the code would be a good start. Check out tech info for the paperclip method to get the SES light to flash the code numbers.

Do you know if the computer logs the error code, bc the light only pops on for 30 second intervals once, mabey twice a day

It stores the code, unless there's a problem with the computer.

When the SES light comes on, is it a steady light for 30 seconds, or does it flash at all?


But as has been said, the code that's stored will help us a lot to point you in the right direction.

if it just stops accelerating when that light is on (probably wont want to go over 45mph too right?), then I'd have to say your computer thinks (and probably is) its something bad, sounds like 'limp home mode' to me, could be caused by a knock sensor or something. when it goes off the car thinks its ok again and runs normal. Had this happen a couple times with my old 91 firebird when it said the knock sensor was bad, although it straightend itself up after that and never had a problem with it again. But like they said said read the code, to find out what it stored.

Recently my fuel pump went out; no real warning, it all happened within twenty minutes. I was driving, engine sounded a little strange but ran decent. Out of nowhere the Low Trac light came on, and eventually the CE light snapped on, at which point I pulled over and turned off the car. Intake was already done so I wasn't worried about that. However my car wouldn't start back up for twenty+ minutes. When it did, it ran horribly, and it seemed the more gas I gave it, the less it would move...like I was pressing the brakes instead. Long story short, the fuel pump gave out and registered zero fuel pressure at the rail. Perhaps you should check your fuel pressure?

Turned out to be the throttle body sensor, never even herd of something like that
