Hello All,
I am new to the forums and have never posted here before. I have a problem, I have a 2005 Bonneville GXP. I have a chirping sound coming from the front end. Recently I have replaced the serpentine belt, the water pump pensioner, and the water pump belt. I only hear the noise at idle, if i give it gas it goes away or seems like it. Any help would be great! :)

Not sure of the exact sound but could be your serpentine belt or maybe even the water pump itself.... And if so YouTube is your best friend!! I have already found someone replacing the water pump on a 4.6 northstar!!

Probably just a pulley like on an idler that is squeaking.

Very common for the water pump pulley to chirp at every rotation. It's very rhythmic and I'm sure your hearing what I would say 90% of Northstars have. My Northstar has done it everyday since I got it 2 years ago.

Not what I wanted to hear >< lol, the sound comes and goes usually when it gets into the 40's and 30's it returns. It kinda sounds like it is coming from the other side of the engine though. The only thing that sucks is you can never tell where the sound is coming from. You can hear it under the car and on top. I just want it to be quiet again ><

The water pump on a Northstar is on the drivers side... It is driven off one of the camshafts on the front bank.

Not part of the main serpentine drive on the passenger side.

Yea i know, i just replaced the belt and the tensioner. I took it to a Cadillac dealer to run a diagnostics to find out what was causing the sound. They told me i needed to replace those and the serpentine belt.

Tomorrow weather permitting i'll try to post a video so you can hear it. I want to try to take the water pump belt off and see if the noise goes away, but it has been raining here and no garage :-\

Sorry I haven't posted the video of the noise or anything work has been a little hectic as of lately. But I did find out where the noise is coming from. My brother and I were changing my oil today and had the car in the air. Thinking maybe this was the problem as it was an intermittent problem till as of lately. To make a long story short is the flywheel, it wobbles like a top. :( My brother says its bent pretty bad will have to replace it. Couple of new questions. Will I have to buy this from the dealer? Whats the easiest way to remove and replace it? Thanks in advanced!

Can't say I've ever seen that before on a street car.
