Need help-New Bonneville Owner

I just recently purchase a 2000 Bonneville SSEI and both the stereo and a/c- climate control unit seem to have been ripped out of the car. in the hole where the radio was i see no wires except for what appears to be the ground wire and a flat connector that looks like it belongs in a computer. my question is how do i reinstall both the OEM stereo do climate control unit. Any instructions or advice would be greatly appreciated

For 2000 you get the ribbon cable instead of a normal wire harness to the radio, so you might be just fine.
Pick up the climate control unit and the radio from a salvage yard or contact harofreak00 to get them, and that might be all you need. I'll let the 2000+ guys take over if there's anything you're supposed to have but are missing.

thats where my problem is. the ribbon is torn.would it be easier/cheaper to just install a aftermarket stereo?

Ah, well that's different. For aftermarket radio you'll ned to run all new wires for the antenna, illumination, power, ground, speakers, and possibly amp turn-on. It's a bit of work, but you can do it.
I'd explore replacing the ribbon cable from a donor vehicle at a salvage yard.

would i run all those wires from the factory amp? just trying to get an idea of my options

Do you have the factory amp? I was under the impression your audio system was torn out. If I were going aftermarket, I wouldn't use a factory amp. It's relatively straightforward to wire up an aftermarket amp in a 2000+ since the battery is already in back.

yes i still have the factory amp but i agree with you it might be easier to just go all aftermarket. do you know if the intructions found in other topics as far the harness(s) needed would apply for my situation or is it a totally different situation all together?

Going off recollection from other threads, 2000 owners seem to have trouble finding a "+12V in run" from the fusebox, which baffles me, because that should be very straightforward. Regarding other 2000+ install threads and harness adapters: I don't think harness adapters will help you if your ribbon cable is torn. If you go aftermarket you can run new speaker wires, +12V constant, +12V in run, Ground, antenna, amp turn on (if needed), illumination (if needed), and line-out cables if running an outboard amplifier.
None of those really needs a harness (which would conceivably hook up to the ribbon cable, if you had one), but you'll need things like fuse tap add-a-circuits and the like. It's basic car audio system wiring, and people have done it, but they probably used a few choice swearwords here and there. If you take your time and use the right cables and connectors, I don't see why this shouldn't be doable over a weekend.
There's also the door chimes, HUD, steering wheel radio controls, and OnStar that all hook into the factory radio -if you have any of those features- and various harness adapters let you continue using those features with an aftermarket radio, but you can live without any of those features (if you had them to begin with) and just install all aftermarket.

Reason why i have it if anyone wants to know...
i had an aftermarket radio in my car a dual Hd radio but it was blue lighting instead of the Orangist-red color that is factory and i love alot of the factory stuff...

Woah here guys.....if the ribbon cable is broken then he needs to replace it, Getting adapters, and wiring to the factory amp will not work.
You need to get a replacement ribbon cable. I would contact Harofreak 00 here on the club, and see if he has a dash harness with the ribbon cable still intact.

looks like the prior owner already had an aftermarket HU in the vehicle and ran all the neccessary wires i will take a picture and post what it looks like

they also have two wires split from the cigarette lighter, if i decide to just rerun all the wires could i use these two wires for constant power and accessory?
