Just saw this commercial on the tube. Anyone hear of these before? What are the chances that they actually work?

In general, spark plugs will not GAIN power. They will restore LOST power. When this was brought up on the forum about a year ago, it was generally accepted that most of their claims were wildly inflated.

They fail basic electronics 101.

The spark is initiated by opening the primary ignition not by closing it as they show in their animation.

They show heat generation before the spark arcs the gap. There is no current flow before the spark actually arcs (jumps) the plug gap. There is no heat generation without current flow, voltage alone can not cause heating.

I could find more wrong with their "theory" but the errors in basic electronics is enough for me to call

I understand what i think they are trying to say their plugs do we were having this discussion over at Lesabret board. They are trying to shorten the length of time the spark is actually jumping the gap by concentrating the energy like a capicitor and releasing it in a shorter amount of time in a more powerful spark.

Frankly i think its about time that a better sparkplug design came out. But i dont know that this is it.

NKG plugs work great in our cars. Call me silly but I think we have reached the point where we can't really do much more to a spark plug. Internal combustion engine is old technology and so are the components.

Seems to me any gains to be had would be had by merely replacing the plugs with copper plugs anyhow. After all, brand new works better than used, right? ;-)

About the only technology left to conquer is how to make them last indefinately in the motor.

Otherwise, it lights the mixture on command, or it doesn't. That problem was solved 80 years ago. Just about every other claim is marketing hype IMNSHO. People are better off learning how to change plugs and read them to see what else might be wrong with the motor instead of searching for the next great plug design.
