Hello from MN!

Hey guys, name's Nick. I've posted on a couple threads so far but wanted to formally introduce myself here. I picked up this 2003 SSEi beauty up from a private seller up near St. Cloud where I'm from. Bought the car mid January but it was finally nice enough to bust out the pressure washer on Saturday and give her a well deserved hand wash. Had to get all that dreaded nasty metro road salt off. When I did I snapped a pic to post here. More to come later maybe after a good polish and detailing, but most of you know what these cars look like inside and out. I live in Minneapolis now but still make it back home alot of weekends.

Little history on the car...she had a rough start. In 2004 it was rear ended and totalled by the insurance company. The guy I bought it from took her in a fixed it up right. He was a real straight forward guy and had all paperwork to back up everything that was done. The part replaced was the rear clip. I did my legwork before purchasing and all work was done by reputable shops in the St. Cloud area. While it does suck it has a salvage title I got alot of car for the money and its been solid so far. He bought the car in '04 with 22k and sold it to me in January of this year with 82k. I just turned 87k on it and it has been problem free so far. Never woulda guessed in a million years I would end up in a Bonneville (always been more of a 2 door sporty kinda guy) but I absolutely fell in love with the car within minutes of driving.

So far I've managed to get a mere set of new silcon wiper blades on it and some valve stem covers haha. Other exterior wishlist items include window tint, cleared headlights, smoked tails, chrome lugs, a few decals, maybe some different exhaust tips and whatever else comes along.

Under the hood I would like to put in the Stage 1 performance upgrade by Intense. Maybe a shift kit. I'm sure I will be doing new intake gaskets and aluminum coolant elbows when the time comes. It is my DD so won't be getting just too crazy with anything. Being it is a salvage title my resale is gone so I will be driving this beast til the day she dies, hopefully 200k +!

Oofta got a little winded there, finally onto the pic!...

Also wanted to throw a pic up of my first love, miss this car dearly but in 2010 with 220k the head gaskets went and it was time for me to move onto greener pastures.

Welcome.
I just recently traded my 1995 GTP for my 2005 GXP.
I too, really liked the 2-door body style of the Grand Prix, but with 184,000 miles on it, I felt it was time to let her go.
She was a *dang* good car!

Nice car, this will forever be my favorite Grand Prix body style. The GTPs were pretty rare in these years, they had the 3.4 and those nifty hood vents right? I would like to get my hands on one again someday to restore.

Welcome! I too miss my early Grand Prix. I had a 1989 Turbo Grand Prix in bright red...kick myself all the time.

Thats right! Totally forgot those earliest GTPs were turbo, those are even more rare. They had the 3.1 with turbo right? Red or black were my fav colors in these. Do you have a pic of it on here? I kick myself sometimes too for letting her go.

Yeah Red and Black were the ONLY colors. 89/90, fewest made in 89. Clink the link for pics and info on it :)

Thank you for sharing! I need a napkin to wipe the druel off my face now. These were arguably the best looking car on the road in those years. Everything seemed to get pretty ugly in the late 80s early 90s IMO.

Thanks for the compliment! She was a beauty; it was the hardest thing watching someone else drive away with her, but I reached a point where I just sank too much into her and needed to move on.

I was in the exact same boat with mine. I still kick myself for selling it though but it was for the best I think.
