So the infinity speakers I put in my front doors about a year or so ago are junk, buzzing terribly and it's annoying the hell out of me. Any ideas for something else?

Bose? I've heard they are real nice quality but pretty expensive. Don't have any experience with them but I've read they are good.

Maybe they're just not secured properly, or something has shifted in the door? I'd verify that before you swap out speakers. If nothing else, hook them up to a receiver or something to make sure they've got issues before replacing them. Are you using the stock headunit?

No... No... NO.

I would also want to verify a speaker issue before spending money on a replacement. Infinity makes a pretty good speaker, definitely good for sound quality so for the speaker itself to be buzzing would be really odd.
If it is confirmed as a speaker issue, I would look at Polk Audio, my dad recently put some in his boat and I am blown away by the clarity and sharpness they reproduce, we did spend about three months researching different options and comparing the specs on many different speakers to find one that fit his power output and frequency response range best.

I havent had any real good experiences with infinity. I do like my Bostons. If I upgrade Ill probably be looking more toward audisons or Rainbow, but I assume youre not planning to go that route.
I know direct buy does a real nice price on Boston....

LOL, no to Bose.
Yes, I've goofed with them to try and secure them in the door, and it's happened with both new and old door panels.
I'll look into Boston Randy. Looking online, we carry Boston's home stereo speakers, not any of their car audio stuff.

Pioneer. I promise you they are indestructible. I slightly prefer the sound of Polks to Pioneers, but I can't seem to get Polks to last with me.

Yeah, I'd say go with the Pioneer also. I had them in my last few cars and never had any problems.

Infiniti References are the cheapies and don't last all that long. The Kappas, on the other hand....
Kicker makes some decent speakers considering the price point. There's also JBL and MB Quart.

What's your budget? How loud do you want it? I can throw out some good suggestions with high and low end if you give more information

Pretty sure Ed's goal with this car at this point is to keep it on the road and functional. Not sure he wants a contest winning stereo... I could be wrong.

Ahaa well I mean I figured he wasn't going to any competitions, but theres still a difference between bottom line speakers and quality speakers. It just depends what your standards are

I have been told from the lead guy at the Kenwood store near me that the saying is: "Bose blows." I would recommended the Kenwood Excelon's. They are a fair price for pretty good quality. Though, I have been told that it is recommended to put them in with a Kenwood HU, but not sure if that's true.

It's OK at best, depending on what it's installed in etc. If people really want a system that blows listen to the Blaupunkt in a G8. They used crap speakers in them that distort like a funhouse mirror. Amps aren't bad but you can't tell that until you do speakers. But I digress...

I prefer to stay away from Bose, even in home audio. Bose has some speakers that work well and sound good, but they are a weird brand and very overrated in my opinion. Personally, I am upgrading soon and I'm getting a set of Skar VXI65s and Skar RPX69s for my 2002 Bonneville. Skar is a bit of a higher up unheard of brand, but still have great prices.

If I were gonna use pioneers I would go for the D series speakers they are built better then the A series. Ed which infinity speakers did you wind up getting? My 6022i speakers are going to crap too. I think I might try some reference components if I replace them. And yes the kappas I have in the rear deck are miles better then the reference in both sound quality and construction.

I had some Pioneers in my old Blazer and they sounded nice.

I'd go for these Ed, they're a little bit more expensive but the amount of quality you'd get would be an amazing improvement over the other pioneers. You could also replace those old factory tweeters while you're in there.
