Here is my other ride...I don't usually describe my Vette as my "other" ride, that's what the Bonne is for :) The car is a 2006 Z06 with 77K miles. I just recently had a cam and springs put in. Car now makes over 500RWHP and over 500FT/LB torque all motor from a 7L 427ci LS7 V8. Its a really awesome car and has all the amenities one could ask for: heated seats, dual zone climate control, 6 way power passenger and driver seats, heads up display, dual mode exhaust, full stability and traction control, etc. etc. A fun fact is the 2006 Z06 is the lightest Corvette ever made.

Just got done putting on the CF roof and B-pillar and all new weather stripping:

New wheels with old Z06 brakes:

Wheels with current ZR1 brakes:

Just sitting outside...waiting to be driven...this is a joke I never hear the end of...lol

Next to a red ZR1 I test drove....was not impressed.

Most current up to date picture of the car with side skirts, not a really good picture:

I love working on the car so here are some pics of various projects Ive done:

Auto Hatch lockdown mechanism:

Current Interior:

Old interior:

Getting a new dash, this was April of 2011 I think and was the first mod I did to the car:

Image

Heres the new dash, I dont know what I was doing here lol, maybe a new radio or something (date is wayy off in the pic):

Image

Pioneer installed and working without a hitch since April 2012. I did this all on my own and am very proud. I have a stigma with other people working on my car so I just learned to do it myself lol:

And new 2012 seats going in with full lumber and side bolster power:

Wow!! Amazing Corvette!! I love that color, too! That is probably my favorite color for a Vette. Good job on the swap and updates, too, as they look really good. I don't think I would have had the balls to tear down the interior of my Vette (if I had one).

My brother has a 1969 Corvette Stingray that used to belong to our dad. It's a project car right now, and years from completion, but seeing these pics of your gorgeous Corvette makes me wish he'd finish it soon.

Again, that is just a nice looking car!!

Thanks...I am pretty much done with it now. I actually want to focus now on modding up my Bonneville or buying a 2000+ SSEI and modding it. I just love Bonnevilles and Corvettes haha

Thanks. It need a professional detailing actually..one thing I would trust someone else with lol The ZR1 brakes are actually the same brakes found on the Bugatti Veyron :) Props to Chevy and Corvette Team for offering these on a Vette.

Yeah, those brakes are massive, and that is cool that GM used the same brakes found on Bugatti's.

For an amazing detail, hit Ryan (crash93ssei) up, he does amazing work. If I lived closer, I'd pay him every year to detail my cars!

Ive heard the "same brakes found on a _______" reference made too many times and with too many other cars. Same type? Yep. Will they bolt right up to a Veyron, Ferrarri 458, Lamborghini Aventador, etc al? Maybe. Brembo probably supplies all the parts so i guess it plausible.

Anyway, thats a beautiful car you have there. The color and the mods youve done are pretty much spot on. It also seems from the mileage that you actually drive the thing, so kudos on that.

No track pics?

GAWD I love that color.

I love both the ZO6, and the ZR1, but I cannot understand how people don't come away impressed with the ZR1. I think the ZO6 is the better balanced "track" car, but the ZR1 is King Kong's sledgehammer. I'm tired of tearing into brand new engines and modifying them. I don't have to do that with the LS9. Add pulley, add intercooler upgrades to take heat out from that additional boost, add bolt-ons, and make stupid levels of crazy powa without ever having to touch the internals.

I just can't afford to do a brake job on the ZR1. :D

If you are close enough I know someone that could help out with detailing the Vette

I test drove two of them. I made a thread on CF about how I wasn't impressed compared to my Z06 and took a lot of heat for it but its the truth. All I can say is that the ZR1 test drive involved sitting next to a 350lb car salesman both times and well you know the saying: "weight is the enemy of horsepower" lol

My Z has all the "extras" of a ZR1 and weighs less so it's not a fair comparison really. And now with a simple cam, CAI, springs and tune Im making the same HP.

I'd take either. LIke I say, the ZO6 is the better track car for the weekend racer, whereas the ZR1 is the bruiser. I also tend to prefer an N/A option if available. When I was daydreaming one day, by the time I optioned out a ZO6 on Chevy.com with all the cool goodies and parts from the ZR1, with the color combinations of the light buckets, wheels, and brakes, I might as well have bought the ZR1. I think my fully optioned ZO6 was somewhere around $86k. At that level, $86k, $106k, what's the difference, right? ;)

I get that you added power, but you modified your car to be in the same arena as a stock ZR1. What if you run into a ZR1 with those bolt-ons mentioned and some cam work?? You're back to square one.

But the real question is what if I were to run into a ZR1 without the power mods? :)

Well that's true. 90% of CF members just lock them away in the garage. :)

Wait, I do the same with mine... Disregard what I said above.

Well technically you should NEVER have to do a brake job on a ZR1. The carbon ceramic brakes are good for the life of the car. Unless you track the car. Guys on corvette forum have run through a few set of pads $500 for a set. But only a very select few have ever replaced the rotors.

X2. That has got to be the best looking C6 I have ever seen. LOVE the color and wheels, the stance is awesome, and that 2 tone interior is sweet.

Famous last words. I saw lots of stuff that came through the department that wasn't supposed to ever need addressing by most owners during their lifetime of ownership of a vehicle.
