No low beams!

I've spent all morning reading the posts in electrical to see if anyone has had this issue and I have had no luck. My low beams in my 2000 Bonne se haven't been working for a awhile now. I have replaced the relay under the hood more than once and at this point it has melted part of the fuse box so I have taken it out completely since relays are $20 a piece. I did replace the dimmer switch and it worked for a while and then eventually quit. I'm sure that there is a short somewhere but I'm not sure of where to look as far as the wiring goes. Is there some chance that it may work if I can get a new wiring harness for the lights if that's possible? Right at the moment I have just totally disconnected the low beams and hooked up the high beams in there place so that I at least have headlights. I still have fog lights as well. If I had the option I would park the car, but I need it on the road, since its the only vehicle I have at this point. Any help would be appreciated! Also any wiring diagrams would help! Thanks!

There are a lot of videos on YouTube showing how to track down a short, however you do have the option to just replace the entire headlight harness.

I've seen bulb elements burn out then weld themselves back together. When they do this they draw a lot more current. Typically they don't last long but could cause your problem. If I understand the above correctly the bulb(s) themselves could be the problem. Try connecting just one low beam at a time.

If it's wiring, the problem wouldn't go away just moving to the high beams. Actually should be worse.
