96 Bonneville, gutsy car.

I drive 38 miles each way to work in my 96 Bonneville (233k) and 2 days ago, as I pulled into the parking lot, my upper radiator hose blew.
It could have happened during the 38 miles on the expressway into work (4:00 am) but it held out till I pulled into the lot at work.
Sometimes I think some of these cars have a soul and this one just held out till I got to work. Gutsy car. A friend of mine at work helped me get the part and we fixed it, 20 min at most. Then I had the lower hose fixed when I got home. Even with the problems I have with the airmix control, etc., I'm beginning to like this car more and more.
It has a heart.

Yup. Seems like when you take care of your car it takes care of you. Had a brake line pop on my car, but it happened in front of my house going 2 MPH. Had a flat, again happened in front of my house.

My aunt had a '64 dodge dart, she said it had a rod knock when they were on vacation but they drove it about 250 miles. Got all the way home and pulled in the driveway when it threw a rod and just blew the motor.

This is another reason I love my Bonneville, I could never trust an important to be this comfortable and reliable.

I totaly agree, my old 91 firebird was like that too, starter went bad twice, but happened at home or at a friends house. Alternator went bad but it made it just fine running off the battery til I got home, at night, the lights were very dimm when i got back, and it wouldnt crank over after i turned it off. Same thing for an 83 trans am I had only broke down once but it was in the driveways. Also whenever something would happen, it only happened when I had enough extra money to cover the cost of a part, which wasnt very often seeing as Im always broke. I always took care of her and she took care of me in return. Odd thing is that I also noticed (at least for me) that only my pontiacs and fords have proven that they care equally for me as I do for them. Ive had 2 chevys that I loved but both have left me stranded far from home and emptied my bank account dry to get home. My avalanche just did that to me 2 days ago.
