I really don't do it, just do it to showoff which is almost like never anyways, in my cars ownage i've free revved probably 5 times, in what 2 3 years whatever it is..

The rev limiter stopped you at 4K anyhow. It's there to keep you from hurting anything. Free reving isn't really horrible on the motor, but holding it at the limiter etc, it's recommended. A quick rev and allowing it to return to idle is the best way to rev if you are going to.
