New from Iowa

Hey people's. Just dropping in to introduce myself. I picked up a 04 SLE black/black last month. Has 250k on the clock but its super clean. Except for some bubbling around the gas door and the gauges. Previous owner has a good collection of receipts of just about everything including a transmission rebuild about 80k ago. Not lookin to do anything crazy to it. Gonna be the DD so at most intake and exhaust. Which brings me to my first question. Where can I get exhaust for this thing? I've looked and I can't find any downpipes or cat-backs for these cars. Other than Corsa and borla for the Gxp's, way too much money.

Cheers

What I did was have the resonator removed, u-bend delete, and turbo flowmaster mufflers. Sounds great :)

We Bonnevilles do not have the U-bend.

Welcome to the club. There are no bolt on aftermarket exhausts for these. You just have to find something you like and have it installed.

Not even a downpipe? I've seen downpipes for bonnevilles up to 03. But nothing that says it will fit a 04. What's the difference? A cat back isn't that big of a deal. I can Just change mufflers. I'm not goin for power anyways. That's what I have my WS6 for. Just gonna be looking for ways to get the best mpg I can. And freeing up the flow is the first step

Welcome!

Anything that fits the 2000-2003 will fit the 2004. However a downpipe will not make a drastic change to your exhaust sound. You would need aftermarket mufflers and perhaps a different resonator to change it appreciably. However, most don't like how the 3800 sounds when it's unmuffled drastically. It's all your taste though.

I am not a fan of how these motors sound with exhaust. BUT I am a believer that any system can flow better and not be stupid loud. A high flow cat in a larger downpipe will help with flow enough to warrant the change IMO. Plus, they're not that expensive. Thanks for letting me know it will fit

not sure on Bonneville's but grand prix stock cat-back exhaust is good for over 300whp without being restrictive
