I was wondering if anyone would know how much a new 3800 engine and tranny be for a 01 bonneville?

Depends on model (supercharged and HD tranny or not), miles, and condition. Also what is available locally, or the cost of shipping. I would check with Ed Morad. http://www.moradpartscompany.com/

I don't necessarily like to badger Ed Morad -he has some hard to find parts, but his prices can be WAY too high compared to www.car-part.com or put a want ad on www.craigslist.com.
I picked up a 18k mile 2001 Supercharged 3800 with trans (hole in case I somehow didn't see) in March for $725 by putting a wanted ad on craigslist. I could have gotten a slightly older (1999) L67 on www.car-part.com for under $400 at the time and they're about the same price still. Ed would've wanted $1000 for my new motor alone with no accessories, and for the 1999 L67 w/90k miles he'd probably have wanted $750 and then there is shipping and handling -tack on another $200.

I think he's referring to the L36 and 4T65E in his SE.

While he doesn't say SC or NA, an 01 should be the 4T65E.

yes this is for my 01 se and really I'd put in a s/c if I can, I just need a tranny/engine with low mileage
