Has anyone ever tried or found a "A" pillar gauge pod in a GXP? I'm not even sure what gauges I would put in, I just absolutely love the look

Just dont want to be out $80 if it doesn't work, I don't mind doing a little modification but want it to look as factory/seemless as possible.

That is for a Grand Prix, not a Bonneville. It will not work in your car.

I just wasn't sure if it would be similar enough to be worth attempting to make work! (Sanding / fiberglassing, etc ) Thanks for your input.

A few people have made them. You're better off finding the cheapest 3 gauge pod you can find and grafting it to a stock A-pillar trim than paying ZZP $80 for a GP one that you'll have to do the same thing to...

I am constructing my own at the moment. There is no options out there for a direct fit, so you are on your own.

I am using a stock pillar, and a dual gauge pod from one of the el cheapo $10 ones you see in every rice wagon that has a 10" tack on the dash and same size rice pipe out the back.

Just dremel carefully here and there, until you get a good seat on the stock pillar, tape it in place and put it on for a few test drives to make sure the angle looks right. Once you have it right, do the cut/fiberglass and sanding to do it right. Once done, it will be worth it.

I will post pics when I am done, but here is the preliminary fit taped in place before I refined any fitment issues or cut the original pillar. Very rough fit still, but getting closer to what I want.

I'll be fiberglassing mine. If I make a sturdy enough mold I should be able to make a few. Id much rather have one gauge on either side of my HUD but wiring gets tricky so it'll probably endu up being an a pillar pod.

Love these things! My bro has one in his GP, just wish the Bonne GXP's had enough aftermarket to justify having one of these to keep an eye on everything!

You can't justify a scangauge, but you can justify 3 other unnecessary gauges?

Not justify...I guess I really dont "need" the gauges, just a big fan of the look of pillar gauges. Not even sure at this point what gauges I could/should put in there...

A scanguage in the left lower a/c vent is more instrumentation than 99% of people will ever need. The only reason I want/need more than one gauge is that I have a separate wideband a/f gauge for better readability and safety.

If youre still determined to have an a pillar pod, I hope to start work on mine after thanksgiving, and it shouldnt be a big deal to make two. Mine will either be raw carbon fiber or fabric covered to avoild trying to duplicate the texture of the original. If I make you one, well discuss finish options at that time...

Yea and with my car being bone stock there is really no real "need" to have more gauges. I'm no expert, but I enjoy cars/working on/fixing what I can. There is just something satisfying about keeping tabs on what is happening with the car when your driving....that being said, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with this car. I considered mounting a tablet with a bluetooth adapter running the "Torque" app or something similar, but prefer something cleaner or factory in appearance. I like how the GP GXPs can check the tranny temp in the DIC, I would be curious what the temps look like in the Bonneville, but haven't even looked to see if that would be possible/what options I would have. Anyone have any thoughts on that?

But seriously, if its possible to make me one, I'm in! I got really excited when you said carbon fiber finish...

As for mods on a GXP there is nothing you can really do that will need to be monitored by a gauge. I use said scan gauge to watch my trany temp on long trips and it has some cool functions. I put mine in the left vent as mentioned. That's my vote.



And I personally hate pillar pods.

What was normal cruising temps for the tranny? I usually roll ~75-80mph (bit less with this car and $3.65 gas )

Mine stays about 150-175 going 75mph for an hour long trip. Then once I get into town it will run up to 200.

I used paint and printed them on photo paper. It works best with the older scan gauges
