Srt-8 300 or G8 GT

Well I'm back in the market for a car. I will be getting either a 2007-2009 Chrysler 300 Srt-8 or a 2008-2009 G8 GT. From the research I have done, both cars seem to hold together pretty well. I know both of them have been praised by car enthusiasts as German sedan killers. I love them both, but only 1 can fit in the garage.... Which one do I get guys and gals!?

Wow, I had to think long and hard about this one... but I think I might have to call G8. It's really more of a toss up for me, though...

I would love to say G8, and they are great cars. But to play devil's advocate, if the G8 gets hit, it doesn't take much to total it. Since the body parts are Aussie and hard to get because of that, and not to mention expensive. I've detailed a friend's 08-ish 300C Hemi, not SRT. It doesn't live an easy life, but it doesn't let that show. Just remember with Hemi you need 16 spark plugs.

I've driven both cars, which doesn't make it any easier, but for some reason my brain is telling me that the G8 will be more practical... it will turn more heads, and they don't make them anymore. But the Chrysler is just so sexy, and fast...

G8 will probably be better on gas, and to me it handles better than the 300. I've also driven a G8 GT, I almost bought it.

Tough one. The G8 is probably the better handling of the two, the SRT8 is the hot rod of the two. I've driven my friend's 300C Hemi on a few occasions, and it's such a nice driving car. I pretty much fall in love with it every time I drive it, and the Hemi really makes the car. If my wife wasn't fearful of the RWD (which I thought did remarkably well in the snow), we would've bought one instead of the Fusion. Very plush, but will take on just about anything on the road - I've ridden in a SRT8 Charger and the power is almost brutal. Awesome powertrain. The 300 is sporty and fast but dressed up in a suit - classy, and wouldn't look out of place in front of a high dollar restaurant, formal occasion or impressing clients. Probably cheaper to maintain. The G8 is probably slightly better in iffy weather, better handling, and gets a bit better MPG. Downsides are the aforementioned parts availability - a bit more to maintain on non-powertrain related parts. Tough call.

I'd get the SRT-8 unless you spring for the GXP G8 instead of the GT.

On MN/SD roads, you'll destroy the front "splitter" on the 300 in about 6 seconds, or the first time you pull into a parking lot, and Chrysler still isn't known for making super high quality stuff...
G8 GT/GXP is my vote.

^ The G8 doesn't exactly have a higher sitting front lip, either. Very easy to scrape them pulling into driveways and such.
I test drove a black 2009 G8 GT today. I would have bought it if it wasn't for *shoot* trade in value on the Bonneville

Definitely a fun car, better handling than the GXP for sure, and the power... um, yeah. It was this one:

I'd go with the G8. 16 plugs sounds like a nightmare...

G8 for sure. As Ed mentioned, Chrysler's quality is rather appalling. I'm sure the engine will last forever, but how impressive is an interior that creaks, rattles, buzzes, and feels like it's made out of recycled toothbrushes.

No one has really proven that parts will be slow and expensive yet. They are just going by what seemed to happen with the GTO.

do you know how many of those big Chrysler grills are on the road? A ton of them, they built the cars off the grill lol, G8 is my vote or wait till the Chevy version of the GTO comes out next year.

I would try to save up for a G8 GXP. I have never ridden in an SRT-8 but the Hemi's aren't anything special in my mind. If you have a hp tuner you can make the G8 GT get after it, if you don't have a hp tuner the GT's have some massive brake tourqe reduction. It makes it really hard to do burnouts or donuts.
