as long as the block is the same cubic inch i can swap them out for an other series as long as i change the wireing in it right......

For your Series I, you need a Series I block, with Series I L67 rotating assembly.

Nope. Four different engine on FWD Bonnies measured 231. It is often more than wiring and simple parts, but many S-II parts fit into S-III blocks.
3.8 SFI 87 only
3800 88-90
3800 90-95 Series I
3800 95-04 Series II
3800 04-08 Series III
