Brake rotor removal
I'm trying to put new rotors and pads on my 97 ssei and I can't seem to figure out if the rotor is rusted on or what. It wont come off and figured I'd post here before destroying the cv axle or some shyt. Need Advice Please!

Re: Brake rotor removal
If you have any penetrating fluid like PB blaster, spray it around the center hubs, where the studs come through the rotor, and around back into the "hat" around the hub.

Re: Brake rotor removal
Strike the face of the rotor between the studs, moving around the rotor from side to side. Be careful not to hit the studs and mess up the threads. It may take a while, but eventually it will work loose. You could spray some penetrant around the hub in the center to help things along.

Yea I'm doing that now (yay PB blaster!). Just making sure the hub or axle is not pressed into the rotor b/c it seems to really be on there.

Re: Brake rotor removal
Before putting rotor back on clean up the hub/axle with some steelwool.

Re: Brake rotor removal
I usually put some antiseize on the area around the hub and the studs where the rotor touches to avoid having this happen.
just my two cents

Tinted 13% Front 3% Rear, MSD Coils and Wires, K&N drop in air and oil filter...more to come as things wear/break!!

Re: Brake rotor removal
A long, narrow wire brush works well between the studs and on the hub, and anti-seize on the hub is a must.
