Tires Review: Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus

Having decided long ago that I would not be purchasing another set of the Goodyear RS-As that came with my GXP, I went to the store recently to find a new set of tires. Having read the tire reviews posted here, I had my mind pretty much set on buying the Pirelli P Zeros, but then the new Serenity Plus caught my eye. They have a pretty unique tread pattern and the 235,50r18 tires the GXP takes were W rated with a 50k tread life warranty. I was still planning on getting the Pirellis when a salesman approached me and told me he had just purchased a set of these for his Malibu. Having had Turanzas on past vehicles, i'm not exactly a Bridgestone fan, but they looked nothing like these. Long story short, I bought a set and was impressed the moment I left the parking lot. These tires make my GXP feel like a luxury car for the first since I bought it. Dry road, wet roads, it doesn't matter. These tires simply glide. I've yet to feel like I was about to lose control of the car and I like to drive my car like I just stole it, if you know what I mean. They are super quiet and I believe my fuel economy has improved a bit as well. I paid $1200 for the set, installation, road hazard coverage and sales tax. I'm about to drive from Houston to Michigan in a few days, so I'll update in a couple of weeks after I've put another 4k on them, but so far I'm glad I stumbled across this tire.

For that price those things better get up and dance :btruestory:

EDIT: Found them on ebay at a MUCH better price, albeit in 17s.

These look nice, but look like they are side and direction specific. Are they??

By no means a bad tire, but I think one can do better for their money (or, at least, get a just or almost as good a tire for half the price). How much did they want for the Pirellis?

They are also very comfort oriented, not quite what I'd recommend out of the box for a GXP, they'll dumb down the handling a bit in exchange for less noise and better highway road manners. Dry/wet traction should still be pretty good.

I am not familiar with the "Plus" variant of these tires, but I got regular Turanza Serenity tires for my SSEi last fall and have been happy with them. Paid about $700 for a set of four at Discount Tire.

Yeah....those sound great...but I would have gotten the Pirelli PZero Nero A/S.

Those Pirellis are unbeatable for the price.

But hey, I just bought Primacy MXM4s for a heck of a lot more than Pirellis too, so I guess I wouldn't even follow my own advice!

Keep us updated on how they wear!
